Dr. Chen is a very knowledgeable and kind professor who really cares for the success of her students. Her lectures can be long and boring sometimes but it's only because she explains things very thoroughly so that everyone understands it. Uses iclicker points for attendance, not too much OWL, tests weren't bad. Overall great professor and class

Dr. Chen is really smart and nice but her lectures are super boring so I never really paid attention. I learned mostly from the recitations and the OWL homework. Her practice exams are pretty similar to the actual exams

Dr. Chen is an amazing woman. Pay attention in class, do the homework, and do the practice exams and you will not be surprised by anything on the exams. She is an extremely fair grader allowing make up for one exam based on subscore performance on the final. No power points, no need to read the book. She cares about the students. Recommend!!!!

Dr. Chen makes sure you know the material. The tests can be scary, but I always did better than I thought. Make sure you do the practice exams. She usually has grades posted within 24 hours. The homework is a little much at times, but it really helps you understand the material.

Dr. Chen is thorough but slow so lectures were boring but she does take participation points with iClicker (half credit if answer is wrong) so go to class. She assigns a lot of OWL homework but just plan to do them and you'll be fine. Her practice exams and the recitations were helpful. Overall, she's very nice and fair and I would take her again.

Dr. Chen is a good professor but I found her lectures to be extremely boring so I often found myself playing on my phone. Her exams are not too bad if you study a little bit you should be able to get B's fairly easily. The homework load can be a little much at times but overall good class.

In class she explains everything very slowly and I was often bored, but she is very clear and takes you through every step of each problem to make sure you understand it. Her practice tests correlate well to the exams and if you study it is not hard to do well. It was not my most interesting class by any means, but I learned the material well

Don't let the name fool you, Dr. Chen speaks English better than you do. Very fair professor who actually teaches the class. The TA was also super helpful. The teacher isn't the issue with this course, the subject matter is just ridiculously complex. Studied harder than I've every studied in my life and still made a C+ (I have close to a 4.0).

I loved Dr. Chen. She is by far the best chemistry professor I have had here. She gives clicker quizzes every class so I would make sure you go to class to get those points. She also is amazing at explaining things and gives great help. She gets your grades back super fast. Loved taking her. I used her practice exams to study and I made an A.

Dr. Chen is one of the best professors I've had at USC. She is extremely helpful, and truly wants students to succeed. The quizzes the TAs give and practice exams give a good idea of what will be on the exam. She even holds review sessions sometimes before exams. I definitely recommend taking her if you can!

The homework question don't match up with her teaching methods and mess you up for the test. The tests aren't impossible but the T/F are tricky. It might have been the way she tried explaining certain questions, but it didn't click for me. If you like clear examples then don't take her class.

Dr. Chen is one of the most caring teachers at the university when it comes to her students. She doesn't move at a fast pace so it's quite easy to stay on top of everything. Her tests are almost identical to practice tests and she holds her own review sessions. Definitely one of the best teachers I've had.

Dr. Chen is a great professor! She explains everything really well, and will go over things again in lecture if she thinks she went to fast. Her tests are alot like the study guides, never any trick questions. If you put work into it, there is no way you will not do really well in this course. I would take her again in a heartbeat.

Dr. Chen is too smart to be teaching General chemistry. Her tests are ridiculous compared to the other 112 instructors and are completely open-ended. She was not willing to curve or reason when the class average of the first test was a D+. DEFINITELY AVOID.

Dr. Chen is a wonderful instructor. Her lectures are organized and exams consist of problems that she has given to in homework, lecture, recitation and practice exams. She is helpful in and out of the classroom, offering to Skype when unable to be in the office. The course material is difficult and you must WORK HARD in order to do well.

If you do the homeworks and practice test, the test are straight forward. She doesn't believe in tricking students. She is a really nice prof and extremely approachable.
