oh dr. rao....where do i begin...i go from loving her to hating her...to loving her again...she's very intense...kind of crazy...and kind of intimidating if you're not a singer...but i love how much energy she has and respect and love for the music that she embodies through her conducting...

I can see why others find her hard to take, but personally I really like Dr. Rao. She's tough, but how do we expect to excel if someone isn't pushing us? She has high expectations - one might say she expects the impossible - and mostly gets it. Choir is intense, but I've grown to appreciate her pedagogy. Tough and brutal, yes. But she's good.

When one mentions the name 'Doreen Rao,' a number of adjectives come to mind: arrogant, loud, obnoxious, disgracious, artificial and inept are among them. Talented, professional and competent most certainly are not. Rao's smarmy personality and brazen disregard for anybody besides herself are the only possible explanations for her current position.

Had this person over ten years ago. Was very controlling back then. Teaching wise, she's okay. As a human being, she needs some work. Unfortunately, teaching and fine human qualities are intertwined, and for that, I give her a very low rating. What good teacher would humiliate students even though she might not like them!?

I learned a lot from Dr. Rao, but I also was humiliated to the point of tears with her. She has a lot to offer, but she is a very discouraging person. She would superficially appear to support you but when the time came, she wasn't there. Watch her work with children. Amazing. A different person!

She was the most horrendous musician who had a chip on her shoulders. Exactly why did non-vocal majors have to take choir with a totalitarianist attendance policy? Remember everyone: Without students like you, she would be out of a job!!!
