Dr. Lin's class is definitely no walk in the park. She will constantly drill you with all the knowledge you'll need to know for the next level. If you can't handle her class, you won't be able to handle the next level of classes in this field-so don't blame her! It's a shame she's retiring after Spring '11 because she's one of the best at CCSF.

Dr. Lin is great. She puts up a front that she is mean and cranky, but I never experienced that. As long as you respect the rules of her classroom and show that you're putting the effort to do well in her class, she's the sweetest and most genuinely thoughtful teachers at CCSF. She remembers EVERYTHING, so don't try to pull anything sneaky.

WELL I FEEL DR. LIN HAS PREPARED ME TO GO ON TO NEXT PHASE OF MY STUDIES AND NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY WHAT I HAVE TO FACE. Comment:

Chemistry is not a subject that can be mastered without putting in any effort. Dr. Lin is the best chemistry teacher who prepares students for not only Chem 40, but also for the next level. Those who can't appreciate her teaching style should just drop her class. Why stay there only to complain about not passing when not trying hard enough? :)

Dr. Lin is difficult to understand. she uses ridiculous analogies that don't make any sense, and she can't answer questions in a useful way. she teaches as if the class is full of people who already know chemistry- even though it's an intro level. plus she's demeaning!

I passed Chem101A, thank you Dr. Lin. Chem40 was very hard, but Dr. Lin helps you, even if you think that you are not going to pass. Work hard, show her you are doing your best.

People don't roll out of bed one day and understand Chemistry. It is a dense subject with intensive study hours and Dr. Lin does a great job preparing her students for Chem101. You'll learn to love her by the end of the semester, just remember it's a tough course that takes work.

I have heard of this teacher. Im taking a new teachers thats like her, because she is using all the assignment sheets to give to my class to do. She doesnt go over it.the textbook problems are unlike the test and assignment problems she gives. They are too easy and the test questions are more convoluted

I was wary of Dr. Lin initially, since I'd read some snippy reviews, but she's fantastic! Yes, she's not going to make it easy for you, but if you show initiative and willingness to put in the work she'll give you a break now and again. She makes me laugh in lecture, the only one out of all my professors who has so far this year.

Awesome, fun, and very nice. Don't expect an easy A. If you work hard and go to her office hours, you'll definitely do well on her tests and finals. She gives out a lot of practice problems that will be a huge help on the tests. Study them well! With that said, I would recommend her to anyone who wants to be ready for chem 101A and 101B!

She is difficult but the best to take for students entering the chem world. Don't listen to the comments about her being scary, etc. You just need to show her that you are trying hard, and she will appreciate your potential. If you are a science major then take her, it's your only shot!

Sure, she can get a little cranky at times & yes, there's sometimes a language barrier, but she's fair & straightforward, and pushes you to excel. She takes a personal interest in students' success. If you're even considering continuing in chem, do yourself a big favor & take her class! Her former students were noticeably more prepared in 101A.

This little woman scared the crap out of me. She's moody and unpredictable. I had so much anxiety, I had to drop her class and take it from a more chill prof. Oh, and there's a language barrier. Sometimes when she's doing calculations in lecture, she does them in Chinese. REALLY frustrating; chem is hard enough as it is. Avoid her.

Terrible teacher. Everything out of her mouth makes things far more difficult than necessary. Unapproachable for questions and makes students feel like they're nothing remotely close to bright. Language barrier is INTENSE and makes it extremely hard to understand anything that comes out of her mouth. STAY AWAY!!!

only take this class if you plan on going to 101A. she's challenging, but its all to prep you for 101A.tests are overwhelming, but if you master the worksheets you'll pass-not that its easy. i found her funny. her analogies are strange. but she is always willing to help so long as you're not intimidated by a little loud lady.

Dr. Lin is a very good professor. In and out of class others spoke of her as being this scary little woman who never awards an A for hard work, but I feel she is fair. Not sure about her grading system though. I had her this summer for 40 lab and Drucker for my lecture. She is very clear, and actually quite funny. Highly recommended
