Not a hands on class, nor fun one... but very informative/helpful. basically you cover everything via textbook with hw labs the first 3 weeks and online stuff due every class day from then on. the test is knowledge so you must read the book or else! I must say he is so caught up in talking he forgets that we even are raising our hand sometimes!

Doug is a great prof. He is very knowledgeable and very willing to share that knowledge. He can get off on tangents easily but he's pretty entertaining. His multiple choice tests are long but not extremely difficult if you've read the book and paid attention to his lectures. I highly recommend taking Doug. Spring 2014 is his last quarter!!

I've taken a course with Doug and been on two field trips with him. He's very knowledgable and enthusiastic, if a little challenging at times. To many of the posters that complained about the difficulty... get over it, if you want to succeed at college or university. With his muti-choice tests, they can be difficult. Understand the material!

This instructor is amazing. He has taught this class for 41 years. He is an incredibly knowledgeable instructor. The class requires you read the text book. The class requires that you attend the class if you want to pass the test. This class is truly college leveled. Don't think this instructor is a slacker. He's Not. Great teacher !!!!

It was a tsunami of information, way too much was covered than would fit into one quarter. The professor may have been helpful, but there was no way to actually teach all of the information in such a way that anyone learned anything. It has been assed by all who have taken the course as a "grade point average killer". The lab book was terrible.

This was the boring class Ive ever taken. Every single day you go to class and watch him go threw a PowerPoint. He will add a few videos in which are entertaining but that's about it. He is a nice person but doesn't know how to explain the material.

Good class if your not all about science. He keeps you interested even if you didn't think you could be. He is the man, my brother thought the same 7 years ago and its still true. You'll have to put in some time, but it won't be as hard as bio! Don't skip class& homework is graded by table so if you sit by chill people you don't have to bother (:

Mr. McKeever is a typical scientist,not great at the interpersonal stuff,but in love with his subject.Exams are long,but read the material,which is extensive but not hard to understand,and you'll do fine.He tends to ignore older students.Overall, a good guy.

awesome teacher! I really loved his class. He requires a lot of time, but he is very fair in grading and doesn't put anything on the test that we have not talked about in class. He's also very funny and does a good job of keeping things light-hearted. Been teaching for 40 years there.

i slept through most of this class and got a B+. doug is a super nice guy, but he just rambles on and on and no one ever has any idea what he's talking about unless they're super into geology. tests require that you read the book and thoroughly understand the concepts.

He was very informed on the subject and his class is very interesting too. He's a very sociable guy and wants everyone to do well in the class. You need to know the stuff in the book, and you need to understand how to apply the concepts not just memorize what they mean..he's not a "know the definitions" kind of guy.
