While Doug is a very fun teacher and good at explaining and examining the various aspects of film, he mainly cares that students read the book assignments. So be sure to include quotes from the readings in your screening reports and analyses or he will grade you down for that. I don't like the S, S+, S- grading system.

Very nice, helpful, clear on what he wants. Lectures/discusses a lot and does group work too. Our subject was Utopian/Dystopian literature, very interesting and he's pretty easy on you when it comes to grading. I definitely recommend him.

Great Class. Excellent reading material. Read a lot of science fiction. Use only one non-fiction book about the genre. Very open to everyone's input. Gives good feedback on papers.

Dr. Park is awesome. I have never has a professor who was so helpful with feedback on papers. He puts a lot of effort into giving feedback on writing . . . he really wants your paper to be great. Very intuitive to how his class is approaching a topic.

Doug's intro to film class provides a good overview of different aspects of film, both technical and nontechnical. He is interested in both classic film and contempory films; his viewing lists and comments during class discussions demonstrate this. Grades are based on screening reports, a presentation, and a couple of longer pieces of writing.

Doug is awesome! He has a good handle on film, and teaches it with ease and excitement. He doesn't just refer to old/classic films either, he's VERY up to date. The class isn't a breeze by any means, but if you show up and do the work you shouldn't have a problem. If you enjoy film, you will enjoy both Doug and this class. There is a group project.

Professor Park is awesome. He has a very tangible love of his course material, and unlike a lot of film profs he doesn't linger on archaic 'classic' movies with nothing but lecture value. Pretty hip for a self-described old guy too.

He's a great teacher -- very enthusiastic -- especially when using the laser pen to point :) He let us do a creative project as our final, and I got away with a diorama of Gulliver's Travels.

(Taken Fall 03) Doug is a really fabulous guy who is very enthusiastic about his course material. The class I took this quarter (Intro to Film) was a little more lecture than I would have liked, but I think that comes with the subject material.

Intresting course. The prof knows the material, but I think it could have been more indepth. More writing indepth instead of the short-writing assigments. Reminded me of Eng 101, with the tedious amounts of short assigments.
