Amazing professor! Dr. Woody is so passionate about the subjects that he teaches. He is kind and very understanding. His class is very engaging, so participation is very important. His tests are a little difficult but always the same structure. As long as you go to class and participate you will be fine!

This was the best class I have taken at UNC. I learned so much about prejudice, discrimination and how to combat it. He used many historical examples relevant to class and his lectures were enthralling.

Some of the comments on here are misleading. Doug doesn't teach you so you are ready to take the exam, instead he makes you take notes of useless material that doesn't help your grade. Because of this you need to treat the textbook like a bible and always read it. Wouldn't take again.

The prof should be a historian as he clearly knows a lot. Trouble is, Doug Woodys lectures are a snooze fest. His teaching style is nearly as outdated as his jokes.

You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't take this class with Dr. Woody. His lectures changed my entire view of prejudice/discrimination. This class is one of the harder classes I've taken during my UG degree, but it's well worth it. Do the reading, go to class, study and you'll do fine! He's passionate about this subject, it really shows!

Dr. Woody is amazing. He lectures completely off of his own notes with no slides so if you need a giant screen to tell you what to write down instead of actually listening to your professor, he is not the guy for you. If you love interesting topics and a class that is full of information that is useful to all majors, then I suggest you take classes

It isn't super easy, nor super hard. He is my favorite teacher, and his examples make learning easy. You have to take notes on your own cause he does no powerpoint but he is very descriptive and easy to understand example wise you'll remember even if you dont write it down.

He’s like no prof. I’ve had before. What he says is so powerful you just leave class questioning everything you know about the world. He doesn't use powerpoints, he writes lists of concepts on the board and you take notes from lecture. His tests are comprehensive of key points. You won't leave this class the same person, take it and see what I mean

There is no greater Professor than this gentleman. Can caress you through a mood and then tear your throat out in a flash. Is also the best Advisor that one could have in UNC, this man and his wife make an excellent team! After so many years with him, I pray that he stays someone I can call friend. No equal on campus for insight and knowledge.

Dr. Doug Woody is a fabulous and yet very shy professor. He does not like making eye contact, yet still gets point across very well! He is challenging, and expects a lot from his students, but its only beneficial to this course. I want to take all of my courses with Woody because I enjoyed it so much.

Dr. Woody is by far the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life. He's brilliant and amazing to watch as he teaches - he sometimes acts out what he's saying. His class certainly isn't easy, but it's worth it. We applauded him out of the classroom on the last day of class. That's how awesome he is and that's how much we as a class liked him.
