Comment:

376 is not a fun class, but Douglas makes it hilarious with his jokes and hyperactive antics. He's available a lot in office hours, and even lets you critique your exams or assignments if you do poorly for extra marks. Even though quantitative research isn't anyone's cup of tea, he makes it decently bearable and accessible.

Like any professor, you have to learn what is expected from you. If you work really hard you will do well, 376 is a challenging course and requires a lot of dedication. Go to class, do the Homework assignments and visit him as much as you need in office hours. He is entertaining in the classroom but doesn't hide his political views.

Lectures were difficult to follow, Powerpoints were useless, ask lots of question to do well but don't bother taking notes, they don't ever come up again. Nice guy, he's just trying to do too much. Seems easy going but be careful, he's a hard marker.

this guy scared me away 1st day, but he's actually sweet, not just adult ADD w/ too much coffee! entertaining and smart if nothing else, uses current material and allows opportunities for good maks...if u got the BS to cope- very informative class...one of the best in the faculty 420 approved.

Oh my gosh...Doug Bear-he is brilliant, in a very hyper, crazy, super speed kind of way! Take the god'damn course or forever miss a great experiance...I question where this man finds the time to do everything he does...come on tell us Doug...! Ok - in summation hes a good prof!

Terrible! The only reason his lectures appeared organized was because the lab instructor corrected his mistakes before the classes. He tried to cover everything from chi square to multiple regression in a class that had no stats requirement - ridiculous!

He is a "little" hyper, but it does keep your attention. He loves PowerPoint Slides and at times they are somewhat off, but he usually notices this before the class. Extremely attentive, will definitely help when asked. Good guy.
