Hardest class ever but it is so worth it. The lab was much harder than the lecture. Dr. Gross is an amazing lecturer and really makes you think about how anatomy relates to clinical cases, not just memorization. Get the syllabus and youll be good. Very fair lecture exams, lab quizzes and exams were much harder since you are using prosections

Dr. Gross is the most incredible man I've ever met. Besides being an amazing teacher who really cares about his students, he's a pediatrician and works on disaster relief projects. I wish I could be his friend because he's amazing. TAKE THIS CLASS. IT IS PHENOMENAL! Very tough and a lot of work but totally worth it. I highly recommend.

In open lab, there are 2-5 lab aides and 100s of students at times. To get your question answered you have to wait for a lab aide. Other students frequently try to "teach" but mostly don't know what they're doing and spread wrong information/misidentify structures, guess -not reliable. Poor resources for students to study well but still hard tests.

Quizzes every week. 1 midterm and final 50% of your grade. Test format 1 min per question is fine, but often cadaver sections are poorly pinned/labeled for questions so it's difficult to answer correctly. Apparently, they make quizzes harder on purpose to prepare you for the midterm/final - this was a poor, ineffective strategy.

Only limited days/times for open lab - most of Sunday & part of Monday. If you have class/work/other commitments then, you're screwed. The people that did well basically lived at open lab and seemed to have pretty free schedules. You're not allowed to attend other TA's office hours(like open lab), only your TA's - even if you can't make them.

Lab is horrible. Don't mind extensive/difficult material but taught a lot of info in each lab class by lab aides (undergrads who've taken the class before), some good some bad and no time to study with cadavers. In open lab, there are 5-10 people per cadaver section, need to spend 30 min-1 hr to get solid 5-10 minutes study time with cadaver.

Lecture is fine, just memorization. Lecture tests are manageable, some questions are poorly constructed/vague.

Extremely dry material - no ppt given but a syllabus that u fill in lecture. Cant miss lecture. Gross was easy to get in contact with but Jenny responded to emails 1+ week after. Ended up taking this class P/NP because there was too much info. If you're pre-med take CHA 102 instead. Gross is a great lecturer but the class is very boring.

HANDS DOWN BEST PROF/CLASS OFFERED AT DAVIS!!! It's NOT an easy class. So get ready to study every single day and give up your weekends to attend open lab. However, there is SO much help if you need it. All the lecture/lab aides are extremely patient, kind, and compassionate people. Plus, you'll meet life long friends along the way :)

My all time favorite course at UCD. For lecture, it's important to attend all lectures, use podcasts as a supplement! Also, lecture aid office hours were amazing! Make sure to not fall behind, the material is dense but not too impossible. For lab, I studied everyday and attended ALL open labs and did well. It really helps to draw diagrams out :)

His lectures are pretty interesting. He's not humble whatsoever. He expects undergraduates to learn med school level anatomy (med student TA told me that). Lab is ridiculously difficult

The most amazing class and professor I have ever had the pleasure of taking. Dr. Gross is truly amazing and will go above and beyond to meet with students to answer questions. You definitely have to study A LOT for this class, but an A is easily doable through study and understanding. This class is a must for any pre-health students!

THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!! Taking this class taught me so much, it was such a great experience overall. I'm sad it's over. Dr. Gross is seriously an amazing man, very inspirational, very helpful, and he's hilarious! He makes lectures fun. You DO need to study and know your material though! You have to study your butt off to get an A.

Great professor! Lecture is always interesting and he makes difficult material easy to understand. Exams are hard but fair. You definitely have to memorize A LOT and pay attention in class. He'll get mad if you don't. Once I asked him to explain a test question I got wrong and he just said that if I listened, I would have gotten it right.

Dr. Gross is an awesome prof. He's clear and adds interesting clinical correlates to lecture. The lecture exams are easy to get a B on but tough to average an A on (in my opinion). I ended up with 87% in the class without using the text. The Lab however, I got 84% without EVER going to open lab because I always worked. If you are like me use Rohen.
