One of my favorite teachers by far. Gives extremely interesting and, in my opinion, somewhat life-changing, readings and discusses them in class to clarify their key points. Really nice and funny. Homework was mainly reading, which was nice - it was not overwhelming at all but still provided plenty of educational value.

Professor Winblad is definitely my favorite professor at Vassar. He is so accessible, caring, and has the most amusing sense of humor. He is especially helpful in office hours and prepares students well for tests. I always knew what to expect. His lecture style is a bit slow and dry, but he made logic (a difficult subject) as clear as possible!

Really great lecturer. The complaints about his lectures being long are, I guess, valid. However, they're so packed with information that I never found the length bothersome. Take his Philosophy of Science class! It changes the way you look at the world!

Sort of like if your really sweet and charming grandpa had a vast knowledge of Wittgenstein. I'm a philosophy major who's mostly interested in continental philosophy, so I wasn't really looking forward to taking Logic (a required course for majors). That being said, he made it enjoyable and even worthwhile - not necessarily an easy task.

Professor Winblad definitely seems like a nice person, but his lectures are agonizingly long. While, I had some interest in philosophy, I don't think I would take another class here. The material is dry, and there isn't any participation so most of the class is just listening to him talk. If you pay attention in class, writing the essays are OK.

Professor Winblad is a really nice guy, but his lecture are basically an exact reiteration of the reading. I didn't feel like I learned very much about philosophy, and probably won't really pursue much more of it. Wasn't an easy A, or an enjoyable class, sadly. I thought I would love philosophy going into this class.

I chose Doug as my advisor exactly ten years ago, and read Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions in his Philosophy of Science class. Now I have a PhD in philosophy, and will be teaching Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions in my class today. 'Nuff said.

Doug Winblad is a god. His symbolic logic class was dry, yes, but more the dryness of a finely aged wine than of the Mohave. Very very very funny in a quiet, whimsical way. Very helpful and logical (!) in person. His stories and quotes of the day add meaning to my life.

Logic is a pretty dull subject, but Prof. Winblad makes it interesting and wants you to really understand the material. He is very helpful during office hours and will adapt to students' busy schedules. Because the material is hard, he makes his tests very fair; there are no tricks. Before every test, there are review sessions which really help.

Very quirky and funny though probably not intentionally. A very straight-foward and easy professor who takes philosophy seriously.
