Best math teacher I have ever had. I've had him for differential equations and operational math. He really knows his stuff and can explain any math problem off the top of his head without having to refer to any notes. He is also quite funny and often makes subtle jokes at the expense of students who don't put in any effort.

Dr. Merscher is incredible. I had him for Calc 2 and Dif EQ. In Calc 2 he starts of really gruff and seems impatient, however he really warms up over the course of the semester. In Dif EQ he's really calm, and treats the students really well. He expects you to know your stuff, but he is extremely clear and can explain things multiple ways.

Excellent professor, does not give out quizzes at all, exams are pretty easy, just make sure you study all the example homework problems he gives you! By the way the homework problems are for your own good! He does not grade any homework :) Definitely would take him again for future math courses.

If you want to be tested on key concepts do not take this prof. If you want to be tested on that take Dr. Cartwright. Prof. Merscher exams test on concepts combined with applications. I do not recommend this professor

Prof. Merscher is the best math teacher I have ever had. IMO he made things extremely simple. If you enjoy/understand mathematics should do well in the class remember to check over your work on tests. He reviews well before tests.

This guy definitely knows his stuff. Can be a little condescending sometimes but I think that was because he usually doesn't teach a low level class like Math Analysis 2. Offers help if you need it and is not a bad grader.

This guy was one of the best math teachers I've had. He explained everything that was going to be on the test. He gives you suggested homework problems that are not graded, but do them all! You will do much better on the test. Also, he gives you a pre-test before each test which has a similar problem to literally every problem that will be on the t

Probably the best math teacher at LTU. Grades are entirely quizzes and tests. Homework is optional but DO EVERYTHING HE SUGGESTS TO DO. If you do, you are guaranteed to do well in this class. The final is also graded on a curve. His explanations are crystal clear. Calc 2 is the hard one, but Merscher will scoot you right through.

Great prof. He does plenty of examples in class and knows how to explain things so people who aren't strong in math will understand. Tests are not easy but are not hard if you pay attention in class and do the homework. Turn in the problems they are not graded but they DO count. Highly recommended prof.

The best math professor on campus, plain and simple. There's never been a concept in Calc 2 or 3 that I haven't understood after his lecture, and I think even people who hate math can say the same with his courses. Fit your schedule around his classes - it's worth it.

Good teacher. He explains everything well and gives plenty of examples. He only give a couple homework problems due each week. I would highly recommend him though he is sometimes rude to people who don't understand some concepts especially if the questions concern material covered in calc 1.

Merscher is a great teacher - he doesn't waste time explaining complicated proofs, he tells you like it is in as few steps as possible. If someone asks a question and he thinks it's dumb, he'll make you feel like an ****, but otherwise he's a good guy. I would recommend approaching him after class if you have a question to avoid embarrassment.
