Took her for both spanish classes. The work is not easy but she was always available in ACE for extra help and took time to explain and go over things if you asked. A nice lady, very little homework. Overall learning another language is difficult and you get what you put into it.

Do not take this teacher if you plan on learning the language. I took it to actually expand my Italian speaking skills and it was a waste of time. Never used the book which was expensive and she never actually taught us how to say anything. Would get us into groups and we would have to teach ourselves.

You will not learn any Spanish. Bought the "required" books for no reason. Very disappointed, it was a waste of money, easy class, but if you wish to actually expand and learn the language, do not take this professor. For those who just want the credits, I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

Prof. Matrella's teaching style is a bit lackluster. She does have a thorough knowledge of the Spanish language, but she she spends little class time actually discussing the subject. On the other hand her class is unbelievably easy. With take home tests and group quizzes it's impossible to fail, but you won't leave the class knowing much.

If your major only requires 2 semesters of spanish, take her for the "easy A" if you want to. If your major requires more, dont take her. I chose her for the "easy A", not knowing that I needed more than two semesters of spanish for my major, and now i regret taking the "easy A" class because I feel unprepared to take an intermediate level spanish

I really enjoyed her class, but would you think its a good idea to take her class? It depends on what your motivation is. If you want an easy A, then take her class. On the other hand, if you really want to learn spanish, I would suggest that you take her class only if youre self dependent and do most of your studying and learning on your own time.

She is a very outgoing fun prof. She enlists the help of the entire class so get over your public speaking and reading shyness quickly. She turns ever assignment into a game and it is fun her class moves right along without any assistance of clock watching. If you have any questions she is always there and be prepared to bring in food often
