Comment:
Only take this class if you are willing to do the work. The content is interesting but there are easier upper level philosophy classes that fulfill the core. Also, he treats the class as if you are in high school and is one of those professors where his class is your only class. Beware

don't get sick during the semester, and if you do: show up anyways, otherwise he thinks you're skipping - and that comes back around in the end. the Tao books you NEED are actually of good quality, the Hindu books are not good selections. need to take notes from reading because nothing is covered in class. don't waste a semester for this class.

Dr. Leder is a knowledgable professor who cares about his students. He gives several extra credit opportunities and it is difficult to do poorly in the course. Put forth effort, do the readings, and participate every now and again in class and you'll do well. Highly recommend taking him.

I took Asian Thought with Dr. Leder. His class involves alot of work and alot of reading. However, the reading is interesting and is very rewarding. You will learn a substantial amount about Asian culture and religion. It's a great class. Highly recommended!

Easy-going guy who genuinely wants all of his students to do well. He encourages class discussion and original thought, and is not too hard of a grader either. While lectures can sometimes become repetitive, the content is often interesting. I recommend taking his class.

He's a prof. who loves what he teaches! Read what he assigns b/c he likes to give reading check quizzes(open notes reading check quizzes so take notes)If you don't understand something, go to his office hours b/c he's more helpful there rather than after class.Read the books, take notes in class, and use the review sheet, you'll be good for the test

Tons of pointless quizzes and extra assignments outside of class. Experiental tracks were useless and spent more time than others in my group but still did not get the credit. I'd skip it. Made me lose my interest in eastern religions by turning them into a bunch of useless jargon.

Really really nice guy. He calls on whoever he feels like, and doesn't really care if youre wrong, just wants to know you are paying attention and likes to hear your opinion so dont panic...class consisted of 1 group presentation (so easy), 3 tests which were all essays, and 1 paper. understanding guy.

Liberal, like in a big way. Nice guy, but tends to glaze over if you say something contrary to whatever he thinks. Class wasn't bad. Will nit-pick papers. Well-intentioned individual.

he's a decent professor, but be sure to take accurate and detailed notes. his quizes and hand-ins are a joke, but on the test he wants his lectures written back to him and nothing else. do that and you'll be fine

Very interesting course, very strange guy. If you like to read about interesting things take the course, however don't expect any attention from the teacher, he as absolutely no attention span. That is good though because everything handed in is 1-2pgs
