In my opinion, Hodgins excels as an English instructor. He remains fully optimistic and is extremely honest in his critique, which I believe makes him an invaluable asset if you plan on becoming a writer. He will always let you know what's wrong with your story, and will also give you ways to fix it.

D'Wayne is very loud, so do not sit in the front row, but participate all the same. Ask questions and he'll really like you. All of his classes are structured similarly, so 208 was just about the same as 317 for me, structurally.

Passionate, exocentric, and wild. Competent at literature analysis. He gets angry when people donÂ’t participate. One time he packed up and walked out on us because of supposed lack of feedback. Biggest negative: Poor grading and class structure. Grading is unbalanced, unclear, and ambiguous until the end. Also, never replies to emails.

I thought this class was awesome. I learned a lot about appreciating literature and being an active reader-- actually taking in what I'm reading. Hodgins is very energetic and passionate about teaching, makes class interesting. He can see right through BS, too, and loves to call you on it.

uhhh so he has this weird ability to decide whether you're a liberal or not and kinda uses that when he addresses you in class. he also pulls literature way out of contxt, stretching the meaning a little too far.

He's like Gallagher, Colonel Sanders and Sam Kinnison all at once. He gives it to you straight and tells you waht you need to do to get an A. I learned a ton in this class and it heally helped me in other courses (lab reports, senior design, etc.).

Talkative, energetic, and tense. A fun teacher when you get used to him. To combine what other people have said, he has a VERY strict grading chart (100,70, or 0), but he also very much tells you exactly what to do to get a 100. I learned TONS.

Easy class. He lays out all he expects from the beginning, no real surprises. The first 5 or so assignments you even get to revise and turn in for a grade improvement.

He is a nice person, but a horrible teacher. Non of the stuff he talks about in class relate to what he expects of you, and there is really no learning involved. He only gives three grades on any assignment: 100, 70, and 0 (no exceptions).
