Mr. Segstro is an excellent lab instructor, and you will enjoy his lab if you possess reasonable laboratory skills. He may seem intimidating at first, but is kind once you get to know him. He is helpful when asked questions, but don't expect him to simply give you the answer. Lab reports are marked easily, so getting a high grade is not difficult.

Mr. Segstro was an excellent lab instructor. Showing up the first class he was slightly intimidating. Over time, he warms up to you is always willing to help. He is accessible after class and will help you if you seek him out; his lab reports are straight forward and are marked fairly. Mr. Segstro is a morning person; take an early lab is you can!

My first lab, I thought he was the meanest lab instructor ever. However as the labs continued, I realized that that wasn't the class. He was so incredibly helpful as the semester continued. And if you have him, and you're crying after the first lab, don't worry, he gets better. Love the guy! Very smart as well, very approachable! Take his lab!

While he is tough, he is very fair. He does not tolerate unpreparedness, like showing up to a lab without the required materials, but he is very clear on this on the first intro lab. He was super helpful throughout the lab and was happy to answer all questions.

helpful whenever I had questions in the lab. Comes across as intimidating but really isn't at all. Very nice and wants you to succeed. Marks hard but only because he is being thorough which is good. If you care and put and effort in he sees that and does what he can to help you do well. Likes to joke around even though he comes across as serious

Little intimidating, but more you know him better he gets. I asked lab report questions via email always answered quick. Gave me extra help outside of lab hours- wants you to succeed. If grading isn't clear or stated, if you do bad first lab see him & ask why, helped me improve the rest of my lab reports!

He made me feel so stupid! On the first day of class I asked him a question, (and bear with me, I didn't take chemistry for a long while) "what are the units for concentration again?" And he scolded me about it! It was a simple question! Don't ask questions unless you want to be traumatized.

Expect to be angry and have your self esteem lowered if you even look at this person. There are multiple instances in which i thought of fighting this man in the lab. he would lose because the only thing he is good at is chemistry and making others miserable. Please, for me, do no talk to him ever.

Okay, is very intimidating and hard to talk to. But once you get inside like a teddy bear. Like when I had the mental breakdown because my whole lab had gone wrong...he tried to be affectionate - HAHA - you don't get much help - make friends in lab to help you out. This lab is CRAZY*** TOO - stress!
