Dr. Snyder while he was very difficult to learn from because of his ranting during lectures, he was very funny and personable. He wants to see you do well and has plenty of lab hours open if you just ask. You use the lab manual but don't buy the textbook, it's not very helpful and he never gives work from it. Study, tests are hard and no homework.

-Pop quizzes all the time! Be prepared for every class! -5 exams that are EXTREMELY difficult even if you study for 48 hours straight. -2 Lab exams that are fairly easy if you study. -He is such a nice guy, but this is the hardest class I have ever taken and he is the only professor that teaches it. Good luck!!

This was by far one of the hardest classes I've taken. He doesn't care to post grades on sakai. He has barely any office hours for extra help. For the lectures he goes so fast you can barely keep up and then doesn't post the notes on sakai until after you have had a "pop quiz" on that topic. His lecture exams are worded awful. Don't take him.

Absolutely wonderful! I wish I could have him as a professor for more classes. He cares about his students, works with your schedule and taught me so many things besides just rocks. I also had him for meteorology. Take his class! You'll learn a lot and have fun in the process.

Be prepared when taking labs -- lots of puns and memorization, lab exams are based SOLELY on whether or not you know what you are looking at. Lecture exams can be fairly easy IF you have sufficiently studied the notes for it (this includes the drawings that he does in class outside of the PowerPoint!).

Dr. Snyder is great, He rocks. Don't take him for Granite. He is a boulder choice for anyone. He knows alot about minerals and has examples in his lab that you can see. He definitely gets to know all his students and wants you to pass. Even takes you on field trips to state parks. Definitely recommend taking him.

Tests are a marathon of fill in the blank and essays but he gives you detailed power points. It's not easy to guess what he will test you on, so start studying early and memorize everything. The field project was a lot of work. DO NOT talk, text, or come late to class. He will call you out. You will learn a lot more than just Geology. Great class!

Dr. Snyder expects things from his students, to go to class & study hard. He DOESN'T respect/will help students who do not come to class. He puts his power points up on Sakai also, STUDY THESE!! I'd also take up when he says he will open the lab, this is time for you to study your grade. He knows a lot and not just about Geology. Show interest!

geology was the most difficult college class I have ever taken. Since I only have 350 characters let me keep it brief. Be prepared to be thrown a lot of information in a very short time. This class is very time consuming and hard!! I failed literally every since test and still passed with a D bc I showed up everyday and actually tried. Rock on!

Snyder really knows his stuff and really gets into it. You can tell he is very passionate about what he does. With that being said, rock Science sucks and this is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. I barely passed. It is just so much information to take in and the exams are very difficult. Very nice man, but a very hard class.

Easy to get along with and a good, passionate, fun professor. His tests are harder than the rocks he teaches about. Study everything, I mean everything presented... you WILL be tested on it. If you work hard, you will pass and learn a thing or two. Geology rocks!

Ha... I actually really love Snyder. He DOES do corny jokes, but his spontaneous comments are pretty funny. He knows a ton about rocks. His tests can be HARD - know everything on the slides. Everything. And attend every class. He's a liberal socialist and his mind doesn't get changed easily, but he respects good students.

Be prepared right from the start that his tests are hard and take good notes and you will do fine. Make sure to study your notes and any drawings that he puts on the board. He is very passionate about his field and it shows. He has some waaay corny jokes, but it made the class more interesting.

Dr. Snyder is excellent. Immediately, you'll find him to be immensely knowledgable and passionate about his field. You'll be struck by the vivacity he brings into the classroom and chuckle alongside your fellows at his mildly corny, yet ever-so-well-timed jokes. His tests are very hard..Know the general knowlegde stuff AND lots of specifics!!!!

He's just pompous and doesn't believe his teaching style can be improved upon. And if anyone should go and take some "how to teach" classes he is it. But, I must say he does know his subject backward and forward. Just goes to show that just because you know the subject doesn't make you a great teacher!
