Ed Check is a good teacher but he values quantity over quality. You can make ten bad drawings and get an A but one amazing drawing will only get you a B. You won't get an A in his class unless you go above and beyond what he has asked. He's also a tough grader, super nit picky.

He is a great professor. He does make you work hard and expects a lot but if it's a course you are interested in you should be glad that he is pushing you to your best work. He is very clear in class, easily approachable, understanding. There is no reason why you can't do well in this class.

Ed is great at teaching set design. You can tell that is his specialty. His teaching style is a bit strange. He seems to just print out wikipedia pages for things and reads them aloud. I have to say that the projects that he assigned were fun to do. He tends to be very accommodating about turning projects in after they're due.

not like other professors who pretend to know and b.s about films, Ed had real job in filmmaking business for years. He is much more helpful for you to understand and love films than other professors in film studies.

Not only does he teach actual, practical skills, but he teaches them well, and he really (as opposed to most of the theatre faculty) puts forth effort in helping and being there for the students and being responsive to our needs.

Fussy, anal-retentive little man. Very subjective grading. AND HE WAS ONLY THE ART DIRECTOR FOR SEX AND THE CITY, WHICH MEANS ALL HE DID WAS STRAIGHTEN PICTURE FRAMES. I am not impressed with him at all.
