he can come off rude and tough at first, but he only means well, he wants everyone to do well and pass, he gives plenty of chances, u have to work for an A, three exams in total, 2 midterms and a final, u have to study the hws! not such a bad class afterall, even tho everyone fears it at first as an econ major.

Math for Econ wasn't hard. You just have to study the material and you'll get a good grade. The homework's he gives are probably more useful than the notes for the Exams. His voice is very monotone but it isn't a tough class. Study and you'll get a good grade! Make sure you don't skip his classes.

This man is a fossil. Staying awake is near impossible. The math isn't hard but expects you to now EVERY macro formula known to man. Expects you to show up to get help. Avoid if you have any possible option.

The one and only reason people end up having to drop their economics major/minor. Not in touch with modern times. Forced to teach yourself everything. Because of him I had no choice but to take an extra semester at Fordham because I failed his class.

Attendance is not mandatory, but he won't help you if you will start failing if you don't show up to class regularly. The class itself is rather boring, but he teaches well. There were 3 tests and if you did the problems that he assigned for homework, you were set for the test.

Rate my professors let me down. Dowling is a good teacher, but his classes are ridiculously boring. I love math and own in it, but this class is very difficult. Got an A, but put in a lot of effort. He doesn't like anyone to get a 100 because then he can't curve the grades. Take someone less boring over Dowling. And definitely buy his text book.

Do not take this class. I repeat do not take this class, get out as soon as you can. Prof. Dowling is not the best stats teacher at Fordham. At first the class seems easy by not havign any hw and having only 3 tests. However, the book makes all of the problems look easy and the test takes more than an hr to complete. I'm a pretty smart person and h

Great guy and takes his time to teach the material. He covers a lot but that is not his fault and he moves at a pace that sometimes may seem slow and boring but that is to ensure that everyone understands what is going on. Writes his own book for "Math 4 Economist" course and it is extremely helpful....can'tgo wrong

Great stats teacher. Very patient and goes through each concept step by step to make sure everyone understands. He will call on people at random if they refuse to participate, the questions are not a big deal though. Three tests all equally weighted. He has his own book for Stats II for $25.

Professor Dowling is the best Stats teacher I have ever had. His tests are not difficult, they just require a lot of time, so remember to pace yourself well. There are two midterms and a final all worth 1/3. He's a really nice and approachable guy.

I took him for stats 2 and the class was very easy. Dowling may not be overly friendly, but it's clear that he knows the subject and is a phenomenal teacher. he wrote the text book which is only $20. There are 2 midterms, a final & comp assignments. if you study the notes the exams should be easy.

awful.. completley awful.. got stuck taking this class because they cancelled my international regulations class. he is impatient, mean, and not very helpful. I studied, but there is so much information on each topic. If you're not a math major, I would suggest to stay FAR away.

constant notes must be taken, no release. midterms and finals are difficult, i don't know where these crazies get off saying they liked his class, i guess you can like if you like getting pencils shoved in your corneas. econ is terrible and its even worse when a priest is teaching it.

We got our test back and our class had the most A's out of all the years Dowling has been treaching, which is pretty long. Straightforward guy. Study the Notes and you'll ace the test, really no need for the text book. Yes he's monotone, but who cares when he's a very fair grader.

completely flunked first exam, but gives everyone who failed a C+ anyways. i virtually got 100's on my next exams and finished with a B+. Can't complain. Very kind during his office hours, even though can come off as intimidating in class sometimes. pay attention and participate and he'll favor you. he's great, decided to take for microtheory.

I agree, the constant note taking is a detriment to the class because there is no time to absorb what was just said. Very monotone and impatient. It is almost as if everyone in the class is supposed to be majoring in stats and they dont have 4 other classes. The good thing is that he shows many examples and is consistent with his teaching methods

i dont know what ANYONE IS TALKING ABOUT. Dowling is BY FAR, THE MOST MONOTONE and boring teacher that i've had at Fordham. honestly,i havent taken a test yet so i cant comment, he is a machine with the notes, and u dont have a second to absorb. VERY impatient so far. i want to cut myself during everyclass, and u need to go. hope the tests is fair.

Fr. Dowling is very nice and sweet, and a great professor. A fair grader, curves the tests, doesn't care much about attendance, and most importantly, explains everything very clearly! This is my second class with him and I'm not at all dissappointed.
