Dont do it. But if you have to: Attend every lecture and take extensive notes. Recitation is what taught and saved me. Quizzes in recitation! Don't skip it, she does teach. Very lecture heavy but tests arent too bad if you KNOW the material i.e. through reci and textbook. Tests are similar to in class problems and homework. Read book for more info.

She is a very educated woman who cannot teach. I do not know why she has not been fired yet. If you must take this class, try to take it with anyone else.

Pr. Arrington is a tough cookie. At first I thought she was a sadist because she loves luring innocent first-year students with trap questions and humiliating them when they respond incorrectly. However, she actually does have a sense of humor. Get the book, go to class always and recitation sometimes, and then you're good.

I have a very strong math background so it was easy for me to get an A and not even touch the textbook. However, I saw fellow students struggle a lot because she does not explain concepts very well. Sometimes she even confused me with what she was saying.

Arrington is by far one of the worst teachers I've ever had. She is very smart but does not actually teach you and just expects that you'll understand the concepts. Her exams are pretty difficult with low averages, but that being said, if you are a student who can is willing to put in time and able to teach yourself then it is possible to do well.

She never noticed when people have questions and when she does try to answer them she gives confusing feedback. She does not explain any work she does on the board and assumes everyone understands. Talks into the board. The TAs are better at teaching. She's so bad I started using my friend as a tutor because Arrington was just confusing.

Dr. Arrington can be nice when she wants to be but is impatient and short when people ask for further explanations. She speaks into the board and is oblivious to people who have questions. She is very hard of hearing and usually can't hear what people are asking. She is a harsh grader. Occasional extra credit offered. Plan on teaching yourself.

Very intelligent woman, but this is the worst class I have taken at Pitt. Extremely tough grader, no constructive feedback, no notes in lecture, and very unclear about what she is expecting.

So she's not the best lecturer but her tests couldn't be any clearer. The test questions are basically just like the book problems so if you can do those and do the homework you'll ace the class. She really does try to teach you the best way she knows how and she gives lots of extra credit so you might as well go to class.

Dr. Arrington was easily the worst professor I've ever had. Attending her lectures made me more confused than when I skipped and taught myself the material- my TA is the only reason many people passed. Assigns homework & tests on material she hasn't taught yet. Avoid Arrington at all costs; I don't know how she still has a job honestly.

Gives absolutely no help to students. Talks into the board. When she asks for answers she can't see if someone has their hand up. When she finally does see someone she can't hear their response. Lectures are unclear but she does somethings that aren't included in the book. Avoid.

Okay so I did well (got an A+) but I was one of the only ones who did well. Test averages were all around 65, and she was terrible at explaining things. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASS if you want to pass. Most of my friends got Cs in her class for Business Calc this past semester, but I would NEVER take her again if I had the chance.

My mind is blown as to how there could be such a bad teaching, non-research professor in existence. Maybe she knows the material, but she's proven to me in two classes that she can't teach whatever it is that she knows. She certainly can't answer questions in a coherent way. One word: "avoid."

Arrington is not a good teacher. She can barely hear you and doesn't actually answer your questions. She takes off points on tests for no reason. The only reason I did well was because of my TA. Class is worthless except every once in a while she gives extra credit for showing up. If you have a background in calc, you'll be okay, but it's work.

I highly recommend that you do all the practice problems at the end of each section, get a lot of practice bc the material isn't easy, neither are the tests. She offer you a chance to do good. Say you get a 45% on your first exam if you score higher on the second you get the highest grade. That's her curve. Just note that the tests get harder

Never once opened the textbook. Attendance was somewhat mandatory- she occasionally took roll for extra credit. She was sort of willing to help but not particularly approachable. I found her tests easy after taking Honors Calc in high school. Her final was really tough and she did not really curve the class.

I've never rated a professor on here before, but I had to rate her. Her test are extremely tricky and the lecture is practically useless. I know that calc is a hard subject, but she makes it way harder than it needs to be. I'm currently trying to transfer to another class with a different teacher. Don't take this class if you're at all weak in math

she is one of my fav professor at pitt. Her tests are really easy and well covered in class. I don't know why there's a lot of people don't like her. She does many exercises during class to help me memorize and understand the theories-- which helps me to do the problems on the tests a lot faster.

Awful. She runs through the material without taking time to really explain. She really never allows questions and couldn't even hear you if you wanted to ask one. Exams are hard, online homeworks are hard but the quizzes aren't too bad. STAY AWAY FROM THIS WOMAN
