Comment:
She's pretentious and obviously disinterested in observations she doesn't agree with. Her attendance policy unrealistic and strict (she threatened to fail an A student (not me) over attendance, despite it being worth only 10%). Expect a lot of reading and discussion she's not an easy A, but grades (mostly) fairly if you actually do the work.

Great attitude in class and enthusiastic about the subject she was teaching, in my case Travel Books. I can see how she might not fit with other students but if you work with her she's very helpful and insightful about how to write well.

This class has a heavy workload, but Professor Bohls is a very fair grader. The books were interesting and diversified. I would take the class again in a heartbeat. She is also very helpful if you go to office hours.

Lectures go nowhere and she is so scattered it is sad. Grades are completely arbitrary in terms of essays and she has said when questioned on an idea by a student "You aren't a published literary scholar, so I think you should just accept being incorrect"

One of my favorite profs. at this school so far! Had a variety of teaching methods, from discussing the texts, to actually watching movie clips related to them. Her voice was odd to get used to at first (just oozes sweetness), but she's a genuinely nice lady, and very excited about what she teaches. It was nice to have such an optimistic professor.

Really nice, and genuinely enjoys the course and the martial studied. She gives random quizzes on the readings for each class, so make sure you read before class! really helpful, but grades a little hard. otherwise, not a hard class!

She's fun! Get to know this professor early in your college career and get on good terms with her, because she can be one of the most exciting professors in the department. Her grading is challenging, but she's also very helpful during office hours, so get to work early on your paper for that class!

Dull, dull, dull. Class goes nowhere. The assignments come randomly, and don't really lead to any general conclusions or specific skills. Very disorganized and haphazard feel. Doesn't make the material grow or expand. Made me want to drop the major.

Terrible in-class teaching and extremely difficult tests and papers. She grades very harshly, but doesn't do a good enough job lecturing to ensure that students do well. I use to be a straight A student until this class. Also, her thing is Travel Narratives and her whole class is nothing but. So if that sort of thing bores you, stay far away.

Just remember there are other upper division English courses available. The course load is manageable, a short paper, presentation, abstract, annotated bibliography, and research paper. Prepare to print 80+ pages of weekly reading. The class didn't inspire me, but I've developed upon some practical skills.

After my class with Bohls I seriously considered switching schools or dropping out. She's not difficult, just inconsequential.

Professor Bohls has a way of making eighteenth century literature interesting. I loved the structure and materials of the class. She is a tough grader, but her comments are fair and honest.

Professor Bohls is stiff and rather unflexible in her views. Her attitude toward Oregon undergraduates was somewhat condescending -- too bad we're not more like Stanford, huh?
