I took Dr. Figa's Graphic Novels course. It's a quick 5 week class, but man was it fun. The class has a lot of reading in a short span of time. One project per week, but they aren't difficult and let you exercise your creativity. I would highly recommend this course.

Just trying to lend some balance. Also took SLIS 5440 & 5441. The courses ARE well organized. All work is delegated to assistants. If you want help from Figa herself, that is not likely. The occasions I communicated directly were not all that satisfactory. Ex. one was a phone call where I found her brusque and borderline rude. I aced all 3 classes.

The best professor in the program. She cares, she actually teachers, and you can tell she is passionate about what she does. I wish I had her for all the classes, as the information she teaches is actually practical to life and the profession.

I love Dr. Figa as a professor. Dr. Figa knows her stuff. She assigns assignments that genuinely help you in your career. Dr. TA's and her respond within twenty-four. of your questions. She never demeans and always builds you up. I usually have worked Adult Reference, and was never really interested in Youth Services ...she sparked my interest.

This was my first class in the Master's program and it was a great introduction. Lots of work, but she and the TAs are very clear with assignments and available to answer questions (quickly!). I took another class with her as well and it was just as good.

Absolutely phenomenal teacher! Actually CARES about her students! She challenges you to think about the material. Wonderful communication with the TAs. Will be taking as many classes with her as I can. If you have the opportunity to be in one of her classes, DO IT! You will not regret it.

I had Dr Figa for 5600, a core course for MS in Library Science. She was awesome. I have deliberately taken her for ALL THREE of my electives. She is welcoming, friendly, and intelligent. She communicates very well. She makes you WANT to put forth your best. She likes folklore and teaches a graduate course in Storytelling that is a must-take.

This is a core classes for the Library & Info Science MA program. Information Access & Retrieval. Dr. E. makes this a fun, exciting, challenging course. Get the wrong prof & this class sucks.
