Comment:
Having taken BIO-251 and CHM-222, I think that the jump to BCM-262 was pretty small. I walked in with substantial background on all the topics covered. Trimmer doesn't emphasize memorization of details, but rather on understanding how metabolic pathways work well enough to fill in the details with what she gives you on tests.

Excellent professor! Class and exams are HARD, but she is very helpful in office hours and if you read the textbook and review your class notes thoroughly, you can do well. Also, study well for the final. She expects everyone to have a solid o-chem basis. The lab is long, and analysis will take time outside class. You will finish mastering biochem.

You will work. You will work HARD. When finals roll around you will understand why she pushed you and finish the class with a TRUE knowledge of intro chem.

Extremely organized. Lectures weren't as meaty as I would have liked, but then she only ever tests you on stuff she brought up in class. Tests were not the easiest, but pretty predictable once you get her handouts and lecture points figured out. Would go to any lengths to help you outside of class. Overall recommended.

Lots of work in this course (I bet all CHM 221/222), but she's always willing to help, and she explains well.. and she always acknowledge her mistakes. Great prof!

She is very, very enthusiastic, is always around to help, and is excited to talk to you about articles. She also goes out of her way to find outside sources to help you understand difficult articles or concepts.

She's great about making time for you outside of class, which is essential for o-chem. She gets flustered at the board sometimes though.

She's really good for o-chem if you think chemistry is hard for you. But she goes a little slow for me.

Professor Trimmer will go out of her way to help students. Her homework and tests are hard - expect to spend over 16 hours per week on Organic Chemistry 1.
