If you respect her, she'll respect you. Doing the assigned work shows respect to her. If you do your work, she is a wonderful teacher and person. She is extremely helpful outside of class as well when going over papers. Most of the people I know who didn't like her, didn't do the work.

While reading Previous reviews, I recognized things from Fall of 2008 in my first semester of college. While I got a 4.0, and I must have been "a favorite", I got a reality check from her because of the ease of my HS experience. i credit her with allowing me to do well in college. If she says things you take personally, as mean, say something!

She was a mean-spirited, cruel woman. Her knowledge of the material is undeniable, but her incessant belittling and bullying combined with her expectation that you started 101 with a near impossible amount of prior knowledge made her the worst teacher I've had in my entire life.

Incredibly difficult professor. Chooses favorites. Demands thorough, exemplary work. Grades based on apparent effort and improvement as an intellectual. Often sidetracks class discussions. Class goals are unclear. Very controlling. Claims to respect all ideas, people, and opinions yet makes students feel belittled and stupid. TAKE AT OWN RISK!

I had ellen for several courses over three semesters. She does avail herself to her students, but won't take the time if she thinks you're slacking off. Very serious, perhaps too much. She holds a grudge with a death grip. Strong in music theory and piano pedagogy, but not too strong a player. Don't waste her time, she'll eat your soul.

Graduated from Wilkes Music Ed program a decade ago. She was no different then except she heard bells that weren't there while chugging her chicken soup. I feel badly for anyone who has to endure her. On the bright side, she thought I was an idiot and I am now a music teacher (who doesn't drink chicken soup while teaching).

Worst class on the planet - avoid at all costs! Instigated pointless discussions, favors individuals for no obvious reason, and can be very mean, not to mention that her choice of clothing burns the retinas. Thinks she knows everything and regularly makes students feel like retards. Can't see why the school continues to keep her.

While this woman is evil she does teach a good class. I think the way she runs things is very demeaning and dertimental to the learning process. But, if you work hard you will do well. Her tests are fair, but hard. If you;re a slacker - RUN! If not - you will hate her, but you will learn a lot.
