I think i would have liked this class a lot more if it had been taught better. i thought the material was interesting, but the lectures were boring, the tests were disorganized and way too complicated. she refused to give us our grades throughout the entire course, nor would she post anything online. i would not take her class again!!

She assigns and incredible amount of homework that can get very stressful. Her lectures tend to get pretty boring, and often times she ends up repeating herself, but attendance counts for a good portion of your grade. She's very nice, though.

Took the 8wk class. Lots of reading but the material is very intrigiuing. Class discussions were great. Provides alot of insight esp. with cultures of middle east and india. 8wk class made everything seemed rushed but if your an honors student you should be able to make it through alive. Party at her house at the end of semester which was nice.

Very nice lady but as a teacher... I don't recommend her class. The work load is ridiculous and if you are not in class and have a note you will being quickly dropping your grade. A ton of reading each day and a crap load of projects that she never really gives you any help with.

Took the 8wk class and it was a lot of reading.there was a test every other week and multiple essays due about every week.however i really did enjoy her class.she was always laughing and class discussions were so interesting.the only bad thing about the 8wk class was that we had to speed through the material so i didn't retain much.you'll have fun!

when i entered her class, i thot she'd be judgmental, but she was actually nice!? her 2nd 8-week class requires you to work pretty hard since she has you write a lot of essays. tests can be hard, and there is a LOT of reading. however, she offers a lot of extra credit, and is pretty lenient in grading and class discussions were always interesting!

HONORS class was awesome. I didn't even know what Anthro. was before her class and I learned a lot of cool stuff. Would take again. Actually considering Cul. Anthro. as a minor because of her. Many chances for extra cred. You have to write about 10 essays, so don't take if you can't write. great class and atmosphere. Got a 97% in the class. yessss

Ellen is alright. She has the most boring lectures in the world. Everything she says is never from the book. Most of her test are made up by her and can be confusing. Overall if you read all the assignment and attend class and get a's on the test you will pass with ease.

Professor Johnson is very knowledgeable in her field, however she does not know how to write tests! Of all the multiple choice tests I have taken in my past years of schooling hers is by far the most complicated! Extremely specific examples are on the test! My other honors courses were at least clear on what is on the tests!

She knows a ton about anthropology, and once you prove your worth to her she will respect you give you neat opportunities. I took honors with her, and she's elitist about it. She'll scare you into thinking the class is hard, but it's easy. Very liberal late assignment policy.

She puts kids in their place and can made a lot of students want to kill themselves. Loved her for being brilliant in her field. Her being such a huge witch to the extremely egotistical but scholastically incapable people in her class was always funny. Wonderful woman, don't take the class if you can't write.

She has a degree in English, so if you are not a good writer, you gonna lose LOTS of points for paper structure, gramma, and style. The class is very interesting just because of the books (4) you read, but Ellen has the skill to put you to sleep in exactly 3 minutes during her lectures.

Most confusing quarter ever. Trails off during lectures. Not much focus. Written essays with vague instructions for what is wanted. Takes FOREVER to give back graded work. Everyone does horrible so she has to curve all the grades ridiculously.

if you're looking for a blow off HON class, this is it. easiest honors class at COD. no tests, just take-home essay exams and two projects. BSed every single paper and got an A on all of them. LOTS of extra credit offered. i didn't even read the books...dont buy them. just nod your head during the discussions and participate.

We took about 4 tests and there are a lot of fill in the blank!! Very Hard, but then you get them back and you realize you have a B?! She has to curve the tests so much that I got a 60% but after the curve I got an 80 something. Really boring and getting old.

Made a good effort but was not very clear. 850 pages of reading (be ready). Will not make obvious testable material. Good lectures but not too much focus. DON'T LET HER SCARE YOU WITH THE 'I AM A TOUGH GRADER' TALK. Do a halfway decent job and don't sweat. B's and C's no problem, but... BE READY TO WORK!!!

Her class had a lot for us to do, but it's mostly because of the semester convertion. She was even willing to rearrange the plan so we could have more time. There wont be as much work next semester, but there was a lot this semester. She was helpful and clear in her syllibus. She's a good teacher and the discussions are fun.
