Dr. Toseland has a dry sense of humor that works for him. His syllabus and assignments are extremely thorough and the feedback he gives is helpful. Classes are heavily discussion based, so if you dont like to participate, this likely isnt a good fit. A fair grader. Also, you can openly disagree with him and he wont take offense.

Dr. Toseland is knowledgable about social work practice. Dry sense of humor but entertaining. Be ready to put your field experiences into words!! Class requires much effort and participation. Fair grader.

There are a few assignments for this class. Be prepared to work in groups. Toseland lectures with little to no student interaction, which can make for somewhat dull learning experience. Feedback was not very informative. Best advice is to talk to him during his office hours.

The worst professor I have EVER had. Do not take any classes with him he does not teach but reads off of power points. I felt like bashing my head against a wall during classes. YOU WILL REGRET HAVING HIM.

Has a very dry sense of humor and is quite funny--if you get his humor. He admits his lectures are not exciting, but he has a wealth of knowledge and experience (30+ yrs) that you can tap into if you are "present" in class & ask questions. A pet peeve of his is when students don't do the readings. His syllabus tells you exactly what you need to do.

Very, very boring. Doesn't know how to communicate the material in the way the class understands/can be attentive to. Is a very hard grader, which esp stings when you don't feel like he is teaching well. I recommend avoiding him. His papers/tests are guessing games as to what he is looking for. Way too vague and disconnected from students.

Comment:
I had Toseland for Micro and Research methods. I liked him for Micro but really struggled for Research. He admits that he's not good at lecturing, which works for micro because we watched a lot of movies and had guest speakers come in, but was so slow during Research. I couldn't listen because I would just get frustrated so I learned from the text.

He is rude and arrogent and simply the worst professor ever. He belittles students and comes across as patronizing. Run as fast as you can from this professor he's too bizarre.
