Reading the posted comments here is like going back in time. I took Take It Again Tofteland in 1983. We called him that because he told us he took the CPA exam and failed it 5 times! He read the overheads (now PowerPoint), read the textbook to you. He was not a teacher, he was a reader. Sad to see that he is still teaching at NU.

Worst teacher I've seen for accounting. Did not start from the basics and let us know that he assumed many of us had taken this in highschool. I asked him a question and he wouldn't even properly explain, so I dropped the class and took it with a better teacher. Very lazy.

As long as you pay attention you will have no problem in his class. He goes through every step of every problem so its broken down. He tells you everything that is on the test so there are no surprises! Not as boring as other accounting teachers and is willing to help as long as you are respectful and complete work on time.

Nice guy, but HORRIBLE teacher! Seriously. He reads to you. And its awful. I passed acc 1 w/him, but barely, and failed acc 2. He's ridiculous as a teacher. You learn NOTHING!

Mr. Tofteland is a very good professor. He may be boring and it may seem hard to sit through class, but do it and pay attention. He is very clear and goes over everything, incuding all your questions. He was an accountant and knows his stuff. Do the homework, he goes over it all. So learn from your own mistakes...that is why you will do poorly.

Somewhat dry, but a nice guy. He is very clear and goes over all the homework problems, so if you do them, you will learn from your mistakes. Don't listen to the other comments...usually people who write comments here did not get the grade they believe they are "entitled" to. I received an A from him, and that was because I busted my ass!

Very good instructor. Often refered to as "teach yourself tofteland". There is some truth in that, but he will do everything in his power to endlessly explain everything in class. Students often find the class boring, but it is accounting, and there is nothing "fun" about that.
