I literally cannot say enough about how insightful, supportive, and brilliant this woman is. I ended up with an abundance of D1 credits because I couldn't stop signing up for Emily's classes. Not only a great professor, but an amazing human being. Truly engaging. A beacon of hope for UVM and the entire institution of higher education.

Amazing professor. She chose incredibly interesting and informative African American literature and I feel I have learned a lot from the class. There is a lot of reading to do, but the readings are very fun and engrossing. She understands that students have busy schedules or are tired at the end of the day and so she isnt afraid to end class early.

Prof. Bernard is so, so great. She knows so much and chooses the BEST books. You have to really commit to the reading to get the most out of her class. Great discussions are lead in class. It's the kind of class you want to show up for. Definitely take a class w/ her. You will become a better writer and will love what you read!!

She's awesome. So intelligent, so interested in teaching the material, chooses great books and supplementary reading material. There's always a lot of reading, but the class discussions are fulfulling and make up for the time consuming work out of class. Sometimes she seems to have an ulterior motive, but who knows. Definitely take a class with her.
