Dr. Gill, Bless her heart is a wealth of knowledge. Understandably her class is difficult, and you have to work for your grade. But if you apply yourself, its absolutely fascinating! I guess rating her doesnt matter much because she is retiring at the end of the semester, but I'm so happy that I had her as my instructor. SO helpful, so brilliant

Tests are a mix of multiple choice, short answer, and a really easy essay. Tests can be easy if you study, but multiple choice questions are difficult to understand sometimes. 25% of the grade is participation, so if you are a quiet person do not take this class (this is why I got a lower grade). Lectures are boring and dry.

One of the most boring subject matters ever to be taken. Dr. Gill tries hard but she is very wordy and dry. Tests are hard, the multiple choices always seem to be worded in the most difficult way possible. Would not recommend PLS 207 unless you have to take it.

Class was extremely boring. I couldn't even follow what she was saying the majority of the time. She only give a midterm and a final but the readings are so hard to understand that even reading doesn't help you much. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!

BORING. EXTREMELY BORING. The discussions had me lost most of the time and half way through the semester I stopped doing the mass amount of DRY readings because I got absolutely nothing out of them. It's horrible that this class is required for PLS majors.

Fantastic Teacher! Patient yet intense--not too harsh of a grader as long as you apply what you read and speak in class.

Dr. Gill is great! Her classes are run like a seminar so be prepared. She couldn't be more clear or available to students. Her grading is tough but fair and she offers comments about why she scored the way she did. If you are not prepared to think then don't take her. This is college people.

This class is EASY, once you get over the fact that Mrs. Gill doesn't teach. Its flexible, you can lay off the gov book if you have papers to do for other classes or had late nights and want to chill. Its also easy to catch up in if you fall behind. I LOVED IT

How can someone expect to be payed for a class where all you do is sit on your butt and hand out test?!?! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS with her!!! It is a self taught class which means you read a 300+ book all by yourself and take quizzes until your eyes fall out. Someone should tell this lady that we payed money for this class... SO TEACH!!

do NOT take PLS 105 01, self taught. I got a C in the class. I had this class last semester, and probably half our class dropped. Gill, is not a teacher. He job is to hand out the tests, then her "aides" grade them. If God hates you, and you are stuck in this class. Don't procrastinate, and expect ZERO leniancy towards grades.

This class is self taught, but if you manage your time and put effort into learning the material, you learn a lot. You must be motivated and dedicated to complete the units on your own, or else you fall behind. Dr. Gill is very knowledgeable and answers questions. Test questions are oddly worded sometimes, but the class isn't too bad.

Took both 105 & 307... 105 is self-taught and I've never learned more in an intro course, surprisingly! Class is easy if you get ahead & take ALL 15 unit quizzes + final. 307 Class u read 5 books and 1 essay for every 2 of them, last book essay is optional + final. Dr. Gill is GREAT & EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT! I RECOMMEND! Just be prepared to read!

I don't know how to rate her because our section was self taught, which leads me to ask why am I paying her? She seemed nice though, and seem to be passionate about Poly Sci. There was one positive side to this class, its not mandatory, so I could sleep in!

LOTS of reading, but if you read it can be interesting. Mainly discussion based, but if no one talks the discussion sucks. The class is pretty much what the students make of it.

This class is completely on your own. I am normally a good student, but it was so difficult to keep up with the work when there are no scheduled tests. It is very stressful. I have no idea if she is a good teacher because all she does is hand me my tests. She seems nice.

She's a sweet old lady that you can't help to love no matter how dull the subject matter is. Only 3 assignments all semester and 2 exams. Exams will scare the hell out of you, but they're really not so bad. Overprepare if you want an A. Go to class every once in a while. Read if you're really an achiever.

Emily Gill has such a wealth of knowledge, it's great to just say you were taught by someone like her. Class can be painfully boring, but if you ACTUALLY DO THE READING and PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSION, it makes class go by faster and it really helps in your understand come test time. She's an admirable woman so learn as much as you can from her.
