Dr. Oaks is the sweetest woman but her class is the toughest thing I've taken at Oswego. There is so much material and so little time to do it. All that said, it was the best decision to take it. I learned so much from her. Beware the lab exams!

I adore Dr Oaks! Comparative was the most difficult class I have taken but if you put in the effort and ask questions she will be more than happy to help! Requires alot of studying and she allows exam corrections on certain questions. Class is curved, 50 is passing. If she notices you work hard that will boost your grade in the end as well

Amazing professor, had her for mammalogy, the most well structured lectures I've attended, crystal clear teaching style, genuinely cares about students success. Tests are very difficult, but i think of this as a way to keep unmotivated idiots out of the field of science.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! I don't understand the negative comments...she's very willing to help and if you show interest and study hard, you WILL do well. There is a lot of material, but this is college...we're here to learn. I would take her again...in fact, I plan on it.

OMFG!!!! WOW!! I worked my ass OFF The entire semester and she gave low grades on EVERYTHING!!!! VERY Hard grader!! Way too hard for 100 level class. She Expects U To Know As mUch As Her at the end of the semester. Lectures SKip Around and Tests are Uneccessarily difficult!! This Class IS a GPA Killer. HAve Mercy On ur Souls and Try no to choke her

Very very nice woman, extremelly difficult class. Lectures are confusing, test are ridiculously hard, harsh grader, however she is just about the sweetest most knowledgable woman i have ever met. Great woman and biologist not so great of a teacher

I had Dr. Oaks for lab, and she was very helpful and interesting to talk to in and out of class. Her directions could be a little fuzzy at times but often you'd get the main idea. I'm not sure how she is as a Bio professor, but Bio lab wasn't too difficult.

professor makes a point at beginning of semester that some people will fail-get a C-only a couple of As and Bs will students achieve...students were very frustrated with her teaching...very confusing lecture...questions were asked and she provided frequent "i don't know" responses...students very frustrated.

Dr. Oak's knows her stuff, she is an intelligent, helpful woman. Her classes are taught with the expectation that you are in COLLEGE now and should be reading the book and taking notes. You will get what you earn. She's fun to talk to and amazingly helpful outside of class as well as in.

Prof. Oaks is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. In fact I can't believe she is the chair of the Biology department. Obviously, ones teaching abilities are not factored into this position. She may be a very smart individual but she is not a good teacher.
