Comment:

A great person, funny and has a lot of experience. NOT a great teacher. This class was probably one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. To make it easier to understand, the second exam EVERYONE failed. I ended with an 80 and emailed him because he put me in with a 78 and he said he "wouldn't change it". I don't suggest taking unless needed.

I absolutely loved him! His lectures were very interesting and I love the stories that he told. The assignments were really easy as well, in fact I thought they were fun assignments and I looked forward to doing them!

Comment:

I took professor akillas for gen psych and he is all about his lectures. Often lets you out early, but take notes and study them hard. He makes his lectures interesting. Make sure you put in study time and you will be fine. Interesting guy, but nice and I enjoyed his class. I would recommend taking him.

Dr. Akillas is a cool person and cares a lot. His lectures are interesting if you like psychology. He always ended class early. There are 4 exams, the final is cumulative. The exams are tough if you don't study the notes. He assigns home assignment that are really easy and are due before each exam. They help the grade a lot.

Akillas is an AMAZING professor! If you get the chance to take him, do it. He has a lot of experience being a psychologist and has a story to tell about every topic, making it so interesting and easy to learn. As long as you go to class, you'll pass. Lectures are very informative. Dr. Akillas reminded me of why I chose Psych as my major. Love him.

I liked him! There's no textbook, just his notes. He puts the powerpoints on d2l but not the notes, so go to class!! It's relatively easy as long as you go and study. He's pretty funny too!

Very nice professor and knows psychology very well. I did not do well in the class and personally I couldn't wait for it to be over. However, he was willing to help me with whatever I needed to pass. I wouldn't take him again but I am also not a psych person at all.

Comment:

Dr. Akillas' general psych class was the gateway to my love for psychology. I enjoyed his class so much that I scheduled two more classes with him as the professor, as well as requesting him as my adviser. He is so helpful and motivated to help his students. I can confidently say that he impacted my knowledge of psychology more than anyone else!

For his 3 hour night class, BRING YOUR LAPTOP TO TAKE NOTES. He doesn't talk fast and will happily repeat things if you missed them. He is entirely lecture based. No ppt or book. His home assignments aren't difficult. Tests aren't too bad but you do need to know the material at least at a basic level to do well. He's also pretty funny!

He is a below adequate professor who makes it extremely tough for student to do well. I missed one class all semester and my grade on the test suffered big time. He goes so fast during lectures and talks and talks and talks. Would not take unless you have too.

Hard to understand his accent at first. Great lectures but very long and you will take a lot of notes. Tests are difficult and he knows which one everyone will do poorly on, or well on. Doesn't explain things well during office hours. No textbook, no powerpoint.

Dr. Akillas is a great professor. Here is there to help students, and offers weekly study sessions. however, his tests are very challenging and I know few people who got higher than a C. He will give extra credit, but it will only help you 2% points, tops . Great guy, but very hard for a basic gen ed. No book, tests are purely lecture.

Dr. Akillas is the greatest professor that I have ever had. I am a senior and have just had my first class with him, after being in the psych program for almost four years. He is extremely caring about students. I sat down with him on multiple occasions just to talk about my life and goals. Also, he does not use a book, just his knowledge and exp.

I took introduction to Psychology to fulfil a gen ed requirement. I never thought i could actually be excited to go to a class until Dr. Akillas. He is a wonderful teacher, his lectures are interesting also, which is hard to come by. I received a B+ in this class , if you go to class pay attention and take notes you will do very well! TAKE HIM!

Akillas is such a genuinely nice guy! I took a 3 hour night class with him expecting it to drag, but with him it didn't! He has a way of teaching that makes everything even more interesting an enjoyable. I actually looked forward to his class. I strongly recommend taking him.

Dr. Akillas is awesome. His style is a straightforward lecture - if he says it, you write it. Bring your laptop to class or quickly jot down the notes then rewrite them, otherwise you won't get all of the material. Gives mandatory bonus assignments but they help boost your average. I would definitely take him again.

Amazing proffessor. Makes psychology interesting and fun. Tests are a bit tough but he's a great guy with an awesome accent. Assignments give you extra credit and are easy and tests are based on notes. Great advisor. TAKE HIM.
