Comment:

Sure he has an accent, but it's not significant enough to impede with your ability to learn. He is pretty thorough with the math problems, but if at some point you feel lost, don't hesitate to ask him. He is wants to make sure you understand the problem, and will patiently explain it to you.

I've always struggled with math and Owaka has been hands down the best teacher i've ever had. He does have an accent but I never found it was a problem to understand him. He goes slow, explains well, will take time for any and all questions and he is very understanding. If you struggle with math he will help you out big time.

Took owaka during the winter&he was one of the best math teachers I've had so far! People are complaining about his accent but really ? Like more than half the professors at smc have a thick accent. Anyways he's very clear on his grading&he will go through any problem if you're not understanding! I'm not good at math& I passed with an A! TAKE HIM !

Best professor without a doubt. Super helpful. When you have questions he will go out of his way to help you. Lectures are very clear, test is pretty much based on homework. Super caring and friendly. No EC but not necessary as long as you do the work. This man is great.

Great instructor! I took Math84 and liked his teaching style so much, I had him again for Math31. You just need to take notes and study them. He'll go over any problem you're not getting until you get it.

Clear and concise. If it seems like you're not understanding a concept he'll stop and ask if anyone has any questions, make sure you ask or he will move on.(duh) he has no problem repeating himself to ensure his students understand the material. Be present for class cause he provides plenty of notes and examples that help on HW and tests

He has a accent sometimes its hard to understand but once you get passed it everything is easier. He doesn't help much he suggests making a study group or tutoring somewhere else. The tests have different things than what you learn so you cant be to prepared for it. He's really chill tho. As long as you do hw, study and pass most tests you good.

I took him over winter semester and he was great!! If you are searching for the best math teacher to take at smc- he's the guy. If you ignore his accent you won't have a problem understanding him. Some people focus too much on that.. It really was not an issue for me. His explanations are crystal clear and he goes through EVERY problem step by step

Professor Owaka is an excellent teacher. He does have an accent which some might find off-putting. He is patient and sage-like in the way he teaches. Very clear and concise. You can expect to do well if you attend class, pay attention, take good notes, and do the homework. He is very affable and easygoing which made class pleasant. Two Thumbs Up!

Professor Emanuel Owaka the best instructor I've ever had in my life. No doubts about that. I can only praise him over and over again. His quizzes are not very easy, and exams are fair enough - they reflect everything he taught in class. If you do your homework and attend every class you will be well prepared for the Math 7 and likely get an A.

Professor Owaka is a great teacher! He is easy going and very patient and will always help you out. I took the winter class and it goes fast but he gves you a complete outline of everything you will cover and gives you plenty of HW to study with. Do the HW and take notes and you will pass!
