Comment:
Steps for success:1. take popcorn/cereal/Aderall to class to maintain focus on the material rather than Engin's adorable accent. 2. Don't get involved with your professors during the course of the semester. 3. Don't ask a question unless you'd like to hear Engin ramble on a topic of his choosing, which you probably do, because he's soo cute.

Prof. Akarli is one of the most passionate professors I've ever had. Although his lectures can be a bit disorganized, his love for the material inspires people to work and learn. He is incredibly helpful outside of class and always makes time to get to know his students.

Very difficult to follow his lectures, not helpful at all outside of class. The subject material for this course was fascinating, but I felt his method of teaching it was poor.

This is the best class I have taken at Brown, it opened my eyes to the true conflicts in the middle east and their foundations. I must take for anyone who want to knowledgably debate the current crises in the Middle East

I took a seminar with Akarli, on the Ottoman empire. It's his specialty, and he knows EVERYTHING. Tells good stories, rambles some.

So he has a tendency to ramble. So he is openly biased about some things. He is quite possibly the most adorable professor ever and at least he admits when he's not being objective because of his personal experiences. The guy also knows A LOT.
