He was one of the worst professor I've ever had, very disrespectful to his students and often got angry with the class. He did not create a good atmosphere for learning. I did not learn much from the course. The course was conversation based and you had to participate multiple times every class otherwise he was not satisfied.

The class I took was a conversation class. He made everyone participate and got upset if we didnt. There was little to no outside homework. He does not communicate with his students whatsoever, he sprung oral exams and the final portfolio on us without warning, gave no rubrics, the conversations were difficult, but I learned so so much from him.

Took him for Spanish 102 hybrid/online course. From what I experienced he was extremely helpful, cared about his students and tried his best to help during tests. He was very kind and respectful as well. Homework is a lot, but Im hindsight, it helped me study everyday.

I took the hybrid class and it had to be the easiest class ever. You only meet for tests. Other than that, everything is online. He'll always answer questions - even during tests. You can tell he just really wants everyone to pass and he makes sure of it. Lenient if you submit assignments late, too. Easy A

This is the best class I have taken in the department of languages. Professor Luengo is an extremely knowledgeable scholar. His classes are well prepared and organized. He encourages students learning. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to improve his or hers Spanish and learn more about Latin American literature and culture.

I really enjoy this class. Professor Luengo does a great job at getting his students interested in whatever the day's topic is. He has very high expectations but he is willing to help whenever he can. This class was very fun and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore Latin-American literature .

Took the hybrid version of Spanish 101. Nice guy, was fairly easy to meet with outside of class. Only meet every 2-3 weeks for tests, otherwise entire class is online.

Professor Luengo isa EXTREMELY knowledgeable professor. Lots of reading in his class, but it's worth it; it will connect to other lit classes. He LOVES participation and people who come to office hours. He may seem unapproachable but go to him first. He is more understanding than he seems

Did not teach a thing all semester! We went to class and did the work book activities and homework from the book...stuff we could have done at home on our time, yet rather he had us do it in class. Definitely a barrier between his culture and that of an American.

Dr. Luengo is definitely a character. Very liberal, which shows through class discussions. Grade is based on participation in class debates about important issues and a few interviews. The key to success in this class is PARTICIPATION! At times, he was disorganized, but we definitely got plenty of practice and no homework.

Would not reccomend. Participation is everything in the class. He doesn't grade homework or give out extra credit, quizzes, etc. The only grades we get in the class are the exam grades. He is also a bit difficult to understand and his handwritting is too. I will not take his class again. One good thing was he had a sense of humor.

he is funny; but he is a bad teacher. he doesnt teach and you are forced to teacher yourself. lots of homework, even though he does not check it. attendance is not mandatory he doesnt know any names! participation is important though. tests are fromthe book and HARD. not an easy class.

Dr. Luengo is down right the worst professor I have had at JCU. I love the material we were learning, but Dr. Luengo is an incredibly lazy professor. He expected his students to do all the work (19 class presentations - 1 hour 15 min each). Terrible teacher. I will never ever take another one of his classes ever again.

you for sure want to get on his good side, so GO to class, read, & PARTICIPATE. this class was frustrating bc it was the same thing every day: read a story for HW, write 1 pg on it, discuss in class, maybe take an unfair pop quiz, & repeat. It could've been so much better, but he is just lame. not mean, or too hard, but not interesting at all.

I loved this class. We read short stories from Latin American writers. Basically everyone just said what they thought of the stories. He is real helpful too.

I thought that Luengo was one of the coolest Spanish teachers I've ever had. True, his does place the responsibility of practicing on your shoulders, but he was always willing to help any of us if we approached him. There isn't too much work to do for his class either, so that makes his classes even more appealing. YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE THOUGH!
