Prof. Hu is an absolutely amazing guy. I'm a CIT major and I had trouble with object oriented programming but he recommended me to go to tutoring and they helped out alot with my assignments. If you go to tutoring regularly and show him you care about your grade he will curve. He always tells the class that he hates failing students.

Programming assignments are challenging, but do-able if you put in effort. Tests on the other hand, extremely difficult. Doing programming assignments with online references and other resources are nothing compared to being forced to write code with a pen and paper. All in all, great attitude, respectable, courteous guy. highly recommend.

Hu is the best Computer Science professor you can ever take. Granted, his lectures can be kind of boring, but you WILL learn in his class. If you ever need help or need to talk with him, he is always available and he is more than happy to offer you any kind of aid. He is the best professor you can possible take.

Dr. Hu is not an "Easy A" as some of these other people on here say. He's the kind of professor that you need to prove to him you're working hard and doing everything you can. He will personally give you feedback if he feels you're slacking in his class. However, if you're willing to work hard he'll help you. ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!

currently taking his CS2400, and I must say his tests are TOUGH! Other than the tests, Dr. Hu is a great professor. Really looks out for his students, and teaches very well. Ask him questions! I think he gets mad when people dont have any questions for him(contrary to ndjatou who doesn't like being asked questions!) However, the class is not easy!

Hu is great but to get a good grade you need to show that you are trying. He rewards improvement and gives many oppurtunities to improve. He loves to be asked questions and he really enjoys conversation. Do not be afraid to go and talk to him. He let me skip the final and I still got an A-

His favorite thing to say is "you must WORK harder" if he notices that you are slacking. Dr. Hu means WELL and I mean it. He is a very good guy and professor. However, his quizzes are super hard. Somehow, I got by. I suppose it was because I prayed every night so I wouldn't fail the class LOL. Not impossible though.. goodluck!

Okay let me first clarify... A- IS NOT the average grade with this professor, Yes, he is there for you and very helpful and will go out of his way for anyone, but it he is NOT an easy grader BY ALL MEANS. He deducts a lot of points on quizes which are each worth 10% of your grade! His quizes were sooooooooooo hard, EXTREMELY HARD. goodluck.

Dr. Hu is truly passionate in what he does, and that is teach. He is there to make sure you learn in a sufficient manner. As stated below he will not move on to the next topic unless everyone appears to be on the same page. Drops lowest quiz and also lets you retake if you fail miserably. I 3 Hu.

Professor Hu really cares about his students and really puts a lot of effort to have students understand the material. He likes for you to ask him questions and most lectures will go fast if you don't ask questions. If you show that you're a hard worker he will work with you to get the material and also guide you to the next level.

Great professor, He is slow which implies that the class may be boring. But, ultimately it is the status of the classes knowledge of the topic which makes it slow. Basically, he will not go on to the next topic until everyone is on the same page, which is a good thing. Program hard! and you'll be fine

A bit quiet at times, but very helpful. Constantly checks that students are understanding what he's saying and encourages them to ask questions both during and outside of class. If you have any difficulty at all he'd more than happy to work with you as much as you need. If you try in his class there's no reason for you not to do well.

Dr. Hu is the best teacher in the CS department. He's kinda soft-spoken and definitely boring at times, but VERY in-depth. He wants to make sure everyone is on the same page. To make him love you, just do the homework and ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS! He ALWAYS wants questions, but it can be hard to come up with them sometimes because he's so thorough.

Here is a list of things you hear whenever you go to his office: 1. "How many hours do you spend studying for this class?" 2. "On a scale of 1 to 10, rate the effort you put in for this class." 3. "You have to be more than 10 because you are competing with the world." 4. If you are not doing so well: "there is still time to change your major."

Very nice guy (but can be too nice)! Will not move on until everyone understands. Very open and receptive to questions, infact, he DEMANDS to be asked questions. His programing assignments are straight forward and the book is a good tool. The only thing I didn't like were his pop quizzes, but hey as time went on, the more you program, the better

Nice fellow. Has REALLY high expectations of everyone though. Also has a very bad habit of trying to cram more than he should know is possible in a class. I mean, he tried summarizing a Databasing book in 30 MINUTES. If you need help, he's willing to help. All in all it's not SO bad, but he should stop those silly cramfest lectures.

Nice guy. Willing to help. Some great ideas that don't pan out they way they could, like the presentations. The schedule for them should be done way earlier. The entire course should be split into three or four different courses. The idea of trying to finish 25+ chapters on so many different topics in a single semester is crazy.
