This class is incredibly easy. Dr. Funk is highly respected in his upper division classes, but for this one you don't need to show up ever. His tests are online on the website of the book that he wrote, you need to buy the book to take tests, and it is really easy to look up the answers. Easy credit and a great class to boost a GPA.

Comment:

Funk is a great musician and doesn't expect much of students taking this class, which is great because it can be taken to cover your arts core. Graded by 4 sentence reflections about his tv show and then a short paper at the end of semester which correlates your major to music. Super easy to succeed and don't even have to come to class much.

Eric is amazing. He is so talented as a musician and as a professor. He is passionate and his lectures are beautiful and fun! The only grades you get in this class are on episode responses (he has a grammy award winning show) and a paper. Word of advice: Don't procrastinate these until the end of the semester!

After an incredibly tough and rocky semester due to many issues outside my control, I got quite a ways behind in the class. Approached Prof. Funk to discuss how to make it up, and he was incredibly understanding, and gave me the opportunity to make up everything I had missed. Great teacher, and an even greater guy. A+

Eric Funk has so much knowledge and passion for music he is great to listen to. He is very compassionate and makes his classes easy to pass. The only down fall for American Popular Music is that youre required to buy his online text for over $100 but no reading is necessary, but you take the tests through the online book site.

Great professor and musician! Very understanding and kind. Took MUSI 203 and it was a blast. Show up for class take notes or even use his lecture notes. Tests are based off the lecture and movies. Great and very interesting. Loved it! I Recommend this to others!

Dr. Funk is one of the most inspiring, most knowledgable professors I have ever had. His passion for music is so clear, and his skills are incredible. Class is fun because he will demonstrate on all sorts of instruments. Cute old guy. Participation is very optional. One paper at the end of the semester.

Great Instructor and musician! All you have to do is show up, watch videos (take notes) and the tests are related to the videos and participation each day. Great professor with hilarious tunes, conversations and a spice for life! Enjoyed it very well.

Awesome class. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but when I did go, it was always cool. The best part was when his jazz band came in and freestyled for the entire class. Other times it was a great nap class, because there is not really relevant material. No tests or graded homework, just one final paper relating music to my major.

This was literally the easiest class I have ever taken. Attendance was not mandatory, there were no quizzes or tests, therefore, I attended maybe 4 classes the entire semester. At the end you write a paper relating to your major. Needless to say I received a 98% in the class. If you need an easy class, take this one. Such an easy A!!!

Very easy class. I rarely attended, got two poor grades on the first two tests then aced the last test and the paper. He gives the answers to the test in his syllabus, and I am sure that If had studied more, I would have passed. An easy IA or RA credit for sure!

I decided to take his class, American Popular Music, for one of my CORE credits. He was definitely one of the best professors I've had. Like another reviewer said, he SHOWS instead of just speaking about music. Easy, but entertaining class!

Professor Funk is probably one of the most interesting guys I have ever met. GO TO CLASS! You will not regret it, his teaching style is genius and and his humor is so great. I am musically challenged and he makes this class worthwhile. If you need an Art core, take his class.
