I'd have saved myself so much grief if he'd made it clear that it's impossible to get an A+. Even if you tailor your projects immaculately to the rubric, he will find some reason to dock you marks without providing explicit feedback as to why. Marks as if he is editing his own writing without much respect for individual interpretation or style.

Dr. Henderson is very knowledgeable and can provide more traditional and modernist insights into the literature for this course. Guaranteed to make you fall in love with at least most of the literary styles, poets, and authors covered in this course.

AVOID. I chose him as my prof because he wrote the text so he'd be knowledgable. I was extremely disappointed. I found the assignments fine but then he marks very difficulty. I follow the rubrics and work extremely hard but still do very poorly. He's not very knowledgeable while answer questions and is very boring and hard to listen to.

Dr. Henderson obviously knows his literature, and is well educated. That being said, I would not recommend him if you have a learning disability, or are not focusing in English. His directions were unclear, and made it very difficult to work without having to consistently email. Grade wise, I did better in a 200 level course.

Although it was usually fast-paced because of only having an hour for each lecture, I enjoyed listening to his perspectives on the poems, short stories and novels that we worked on. There were occasional group projects at the end of the lectures.

Awful, I worked my ass off on all the assignments, spent hours in the library getting helped, took extra notes throughout every class, and still always got around 65% on most of the projects. My writing has improved but only because I had to work so hard to try and get a decent mark. AVOID taking this class with him. All english 135 classes suck

Very helpful, FAIR marker. He outlines what he is looking clearly. Takes a dry subject and makes it much more enjoyable than what you might be expecting. Very friendly man. Great sense of humor, although many aren't used to it. Definitely recommended for ENG 146.

Great prof! The fact that he wrote the textbook is very helpful. Love his humour - made the class more interesting. He kept the class moving at a good pace. Not the easiest marker but I would definitely recommend signing up for his class.

Has an unexpected humor thats fun to listen to. Straightforward with the material. Marks fairly and gives out loads of bonus marks on tests and in class for things like volunteering. Not too much work involved (2 essays, summary and group presentation). I would recommend him to anyone

He has a good sense of humour and I would recommend him for anyone who is taking 146. Make sure you attend class regularly as tests and assignments are on material only covered in lecture. Fair marker for assignments and tests and provides lots of feedback...like any first year english class it is hard to get an A. With him, there is no exception.

Very fun course with lots of material. The final was open-book, so it made things a lot easier. There are a lot of shorter pieces to read, as well as a few grammar lessons here and there. Probably better than 135 and 147.

Henderson was an overall good prof. He had a pretty good sense of humour, but classes were still pretty dry and dull. (You can't really make this course much fun...) He was a fair marker and gave out quite a few assignments. I learned a lot from this class and found it extremely helpful with my writing. I'm glad I took English 135 with him.

When Dr Henderson first walked into class I thought he was going to be a cranky old man. But he has a dry sense of humour that is hilarious, and his class is very helpful for other university courses. The only downside is, is that it is impossible to get an A in his class.. Very tough marker. I would still reccommend him to anyone taking english
