Comment:
Dr. Kraemer genuinely cares about his students and the grade they receive in his class. He has multiple ways to determine your final grade and gives several opportunities to push your grade to an A. There is a lot of homework, but it's far from unbearable. I highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Kraemer if you get the chance.

If you are taking logic with him, take the other Professor--she has wonderful reviews and is apparently able to teach this class. Kraemer, though exceedingly kind (he lets you retake tests and hw grades), cannot teach and is not clear in his directions or instructions. He expects you to do 1-2 hours of logic homework per day. Logic is math.

His lectures are boring and it's hard to understand him a lot of the time because he mumbles and gets off topic. All of his tests are open answer and he expects the answer to be exact. He sends out emails the night before class, giving a reading assignment (or 3) and study questions to answer for class the next morning. I don't recommend.

Dr. Kraemer is hysterical and a very kind man, and he tries very hard to be available for you outside of class, but he is not a great teacher. Logic is all math and no philosophy, and unless you pick it up right away, you won't pass. This class is for a very certain kind of thinker. The subject is not universally applicable. Not an easy A.

Difficult class, but if you actually put in the work by doing the homework he assigns, you will do just fine. I'm one of the few people doing well in this class, but that's only because nobody else does the homework until the day before exam day. Pace out your homework and you will do fine. Ask for help if you need it. There's free tutoring as well

Honestly, one of the worst profs I've had at UWL. Granted, NEU was a new class, he was an awful teacher. He focused more on changing you views on something rather than teaching you the material. Would NOT recommend taking him for this course or any other course. Very disappointed.

This class is basically a math class with some philosophy incorporated into it. I was lucky and naturally understood the material, but my classmates struggled a lot and I can see why. He knows the material very well but he is not good at teaching it. He moved too fast for a lot of students and he was not very clear in his explanations.

Kraemer has a lot of knowledge, wit, and humor - but his teaching style is often very confusing and unclear; so be prepared to teach yourself out of class. PHL 101 is basically like math, and less about philosophy - math isn't my thing, so I struggled through his class. He has several ways to determine your final grade, so that helped me get an A.

Dr. Kraemer is a wonderful professor. It was the 1st yr PHL120 was offered and I absolutely loved the class! His lectures were really interesting and wants his students to form their own moral opinions rather than giving you his opinions. Be ready to read for this class but if you don't get to it you'll be fine. I would recommend taking this class!

He expects his students to spend 1-2 hours a day studying logic. I don't learn from him, I teach myself everything outside of class because he bores me. But the lowest grade I've gotten on an exam so far has been a 96. Also, he gives quizzies basically everyday, which is annoying. Each day you miss is 2 points off your final grade.

I took this class to fulfill a Math Gen Ed Credit, dont. Dr. Kraemer knows the material he is teaching but not quite how to teach it. His lectures, notes, and tests are quite unclear and if he does teach, he teaches to the white board. Read the chapters within the Logic textbook yourself before class, it makes it a lot easier.

Dr. K gives easy to follow lectures and is always adding in a great example to further our understanding of a topic. Particularly interesting topics include: Consciousness, free will, and the soul's location. You'll want to go to class just to participate in the discussions that ensue over the content of the lecture.

The key to this class is to treat it like an easy math class rather than philosophy class. Obviously it requires much more work than the average PHIL 100 class, but compared to any math class where you have daily homework, its less way less effort for the same credits, and in my opinion, its significantly more interesting and engaging.

Prof. Kraemer is a nice guy, but the Intro to Logic class I took wasn't anything like I expected. It was more like math than anything else, and Prof. Kraemer gave out a ton of homework that most of the time I had to skip his class just to catch up on it. Gives a lot of short quizzes and really confusing tests.

I took this class to fulfill a math gen ed. Don't. The class is very difficult. He says the first day that he expects 2 hours a night from his students. For me at 18 credits that was too much, and I ended up dropping it. It's a hard class if you're not good at math like me. I would avoid this class.

Enthusiastic guy. Loves teaching this stuff. He doesn't force you into thinking his way, rather he teaches you what he thinks and encourages you to develop your own views. Essays on exams are really easy because they ask for your own philosophical views.

This guy is kinda ridiculous. Means well but expects students to put in A LOT of time for his class when it is only a 100 level class. I did a lot of work for this class. Also, he has a habit of imprinting his beliefs on the class and challenged my views on faith and God. I did not enjoy that

Kraemer is pretty strange. You have to have some patience when it comes to his methods, but you learn a lot and he's a fair grader. If you don't like math, then this course will be better. It's an all right class, at times interesting, at other times boring.
