Dr Bierman has high expectations of students but is very willing & available to help you understand the physics. His tests seem very hard at first but doing extra problems on hw website helps. Class is a lot of work but it pays off, I had to work very hard to do well. Office hours & tutoring are a great resource. Caring and knowledgeable teacher.

I have taken two semesters of ochem and physics 101 was sill the hardest class i had ever taken. The tests did not resemble what he talked about in class and he only lectured. The two hours of recitation were the worst two hours of my week.

Dr. Bierman was a difficult teacher, because Physics is naturally a hard subject, any good exploration won't be easy. However, his lectures were always comprehensive and clear enough that I almost didn't need the textbook. He always felt very enthusiastic and earnest about the subject. He was also almost always available outside class.

I had Biermann for Physics 103 and 204 and I enjoyed his lectures a lot! I learned more than just physics. Dr. Bierman is also a caring and a respected professor. He will give you the respect that you deserved.

Doctor Bierman is the single greatest professor I have ever had. He forces students to work very hard, so if you are not willing to do that then look elsewhere. If you're up for it, take his class! He listens to students, especially if he sees you have been dedicated. Overall I would absolutely take him again if I could.

He was a good professor till I went to his office to ask for some help on a HW. I felt I was pushed out of the door after a few minutes. I did not go back again. His lectures are intense, but, again, did not feel I can ask a questions.

Avoid Doctor Bierman's class at all costs. He assigns tons of homework, makes tests extremely difficult, and grades really hard. And his final is the hardest test you'll take all semester and it's worth 40% of your grade. I have taken two years of physics which is why I managed to survive his class. But if you can, do not take his class.

The absolute best professor I ever had! His lectures are very good, clear and important. If you pay attention in class, work hard, do the homework, and use office hours you can do very well. Very helpful in office hours and always willing to work with your schedule. Very nice and kind, and very, very helpful. I always try to get into his classes.

On one hand he's very helpful and gives relevant lectures, but on the other he gives the hardest tests I've ever seen. I was prepared for the first test, and when I got it back I saw that I only missed one question, but it was the hardest one so it was worth the most points, and I ended up with a D. Overall, my hard work didn't pay off in the class

Bierman is very kind and helpful. Teaches very clearly, and knows the material very well. Can mark you down on technical errors, but that doesn't affect your grade too much. He is very willing to help and make sure you understand everything. Once stayed 30 minutes after class to help me and make sure I understood material, all with a smile.

Very challenging class. However, Bierman knows physics unlike anyone I've ever met. His lectures are captivating (I struggled sometimes though because it was an 8 am class) and had I been slightly more awake during class, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it even more. Stay up on the homework (get it done well before it's assigned) and learn a lot!

He is a really likable person but his class is very difficult. Spend a lot of time doing the homework, never finish before the 11:30 deadline. The tests are even harder, did not finish a single one over the course of the semester.

You need to do the homework and understand it. Don't just do it for completion. You're only cheating yourself if you don't do it. I also was told by another faculty member that his tests are "not meant to be completed" don't freak out if your unable to finish the tests or feel rushed, you're not alone.

Dr. Bierman is an excellent professor. He is extremely difficult, but you will understand the ins and outs of physics I by he end of this course. He really cares about his students and will give you a large amount of his time in order for you to understand the subject material. JUST REMEMBER: DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS LIGHTLY.

Genius about the subject and a very good lecturer, but tests and homework are very difficult. covers material very quickly but not too unreasonably, however due to the 110 minute recitation period each week it proves to be more like a 5 credit class than 3.

Bierman is as tough as they come. Expect the hardest test you will ever take and not a lot of help from the equation sheets. Good teacher though and gives good lectures, go to class, pay attention, and figure out all the homework and you'll be ok in this class

Bierman is as good as they come. If you want to get an A, you will have to bust your mental ass, but you will learn a mountain in the process. His lectures are incredible: You'll sit there thinking "this makes so much sense" even though you'll totally forge the moment you walk out the door. If you came to school to actually learn, take Bierman.

Probably my favorite professor ever. His understanding of the subject is profound, yet he can explain concepts to persons of any skill level. He's a bit challenging and demands a certain degree of meticulousness in labs, but if you can't handle that, you probably shouldn't be a scientist/engineer in the first place.

I had Dr. Bierman for Physics 103 and 204 my freshman year, and I learned a ton! He's very clear, pretty funny, has some cool in class demonstrations, but he's very demanding - Tests are hard, homework is just as difficult, but it's really worth it. He loves all his students and is super helpful once you get to know him.
