Comment:

Dr. Thomas is a great teacher and is very efficient in the amount of information he can pack into one lecture. At times, he may go off topic to tell a funny story, however you have to pay attention to everything he teaches in lecture and everything on his powerpoints. The textbook is not needed, however study everything in lecture.

Took him for 51 & 61, on purpose bc he's an amazing professor. Don't buy the book. Exams are based on material from lecture, ALWAYS GO TO CLASS. He's super funny, makes the material super easy to follow along. Provides previous semesters exams, use those for practice. Always willing to clear up anything, super easy to talk to.

Love him, took him for 51 and 61. Don't even bother buying the book, exams are all lecture based. He fills out the PP slides in class so you have to attend. He gives you previous semesters exams, he sometimes uses the same questions. Pay attention to the examples he uses in lecture. He's hilarious and dorky, he makes lecture pretty fun.

One of UOP's finest! Took him for Medical Endocrinology and this is by far my favorite class. Take this class if he offers it again, you won't regret it!

He's such an upbeat, encouraging guy and I really enjoyed listening to him. He tries his best to make the material fun, even though its pretty heavy and difficult to understand. Offers extra credit and excellent explanations if something is misunderstood. The tests are really hard and you need to study otherwise you won't pass.

I took this class because I saw a good review for this prof. He is a nice guy, but beware because he's not as easy as people make him out to be. Easy to get B, difficult to get higher. I liked that he did not use textbook at all, but disliked how he was disjointed in his wording, which made it hard to understand.

Most labs are long and tedious. Lectures are boring. He simply goes through slides while lecturing. I enjoyed his jokes but most of my classmates saw right through it. There are 3 exams, 2 lab practicals, and a final! He tries to relate the material to real life examples but there's just so much to learn in this class! Extra C is coloring book

Favorite lecturer by far. He definitely keeps things interesting and his lectures are very easy to follow. Though each powerpoint may be lengthy, ALL material on tests is straight from lecture slides and is definitely less time-consuming than reading the book. He also tends to take exam questions from review sessions & practice exams so hinthint;)

Dr. Thomas was one of the best lecturers I've ever come across. He's extremely clear, &he'll reexplain the material in a diff way if you don't understand. Attending lectures are a must, it adds to the powerpoints he gives. It's crucial to doing well on the exams. He holds review sessions before each exam. Overall excellent professor. MEGASPOREEEE.

Had Dr. Thomas for Bio 51. Attendance is a must, tests are based on the material that is discussed in lecture. He is very funny which makes lecture entertaining. Tests are fairly easy, attend lecture and the review sessions and you should be good to go. 1010 would do again.

You have to attend lecture to fill in his powerpoints. Great and Funny Teacher. Does his best to be entertaining as BIO51 can be pretty dry. Tests weren't that bad. Pretty much based off of lecture. Study the powerpoints and go to lecture and you should do fine.

Great and Funny Teacher. Took him for Bio51. Hilarious guy and makes jokes to keep you awake during class. Tests weren't that bad. Pretty much based off of power points. Don't have to read the textbook but helps for clarity. Tests are more factual. Memorize the powerpoints and you'll be fine. Got an A and highly recommend

I had Dr. Thomas for Bio 11 (GE).He is an easy-going teacher so it makes it seem like it'll be an easy class. But not necessarily. Yes, the grades are curved which is great,especially if you do all the extra credit but bad for trying to figure out exactly where you are during the semester.Passing is do-able. Supposed to be the easiest 51 teacher so i took him. My opinion he is not that easy as everyone saids but definitely not the hardest.His class is doable just know EVERYTHING on the powerpoints. Slow to grade, slow to put up powerpoints and does not really care about your success in class.

very good teacher. lectures are perfect. he only tests on what is in lecture so he says don't read the book. he uses a note program and writes the slides as he goes them posts them online after class. you know exactly what will be on the test thanks to the slides. also a lot of people record him. he tells lots of jokes to keep u awake :)

This guy is hilarious in a cute way. Got the knowledge across nicely, and if there is any conceptual confusion, book should be consulted (lectures almost same as book). Biology 51 is understandably boring at times, but he was much more interesting than the other 51 teachers (and easier). Just study, you will do fine. MEGASPORE

One of the better Bio 51 professors (avoid Land and Jongeward); fair and comparatively easy. His tests are now both multiple choice and free response. Some multiple choice questions are really easy, while a good number are really hard. Doesn't use the book much, but you should buy a voice recorder to augment your notes. Overall a good teacher.

Thought this would be a somewhat easy class, considering it's for non-bio majors. Boy was I wrong! This is one hard class and no matter how long/hard I study, I had a hard time learning the material. He does not reference the book, which made studying more difficult. Lectures are ok, I thought his jokes were pretty funny.
