Comment:

What was supposed to be an introductory class felt purely agonizing. Farmer acted as if this was an advanced poetry class, and when I asked questions, she avoided the ones she didnt want to answer. I even felt she tried to guilt me to do more than expected once. Her essays topics were unclear, prompts were conflicting, and grading was difficult.

The class was great, I really enjoyed all of her insightful comments on essays. She gave lots of time to work on the papers, and was available for help often. She will give out random quizzes without warning.

She fights the good fight. She teaches real reading and real writing if you're a real student. She's no pushover and she's nobody's fool. Take her if you want to take the path to knowledge rather than ignorance. Would I take her class again? HELL YEAH.

Professor Farmer is a wonderful English teacher. She encourages lots of discussion from the class. If you participate, you will have a fun time. She assigns essays that require lots of detail, and analysis in regards to the meaning of a piece of work. You definitely got to work for a good grade, but she will help you if you seek it.

Love this professor. Farmer gave amazing feedback and really motivated me to learn and improve upon my poetry analysis. The writers she focused on were exceptional and I would definitely take any other course she instructs. Downsides: grades based on personal skill, books were completely unnecessary and she announced assignments a week in advance.

She is a really good teacher and does well when explaining things. There is a lot of reading in the class but most of it is fairly entertaining. You have to be willing to participate and try to have fun in that class because just the right attitude will take you a long way.

I would not take this teacher. It's basically all lecture and is very boring. There's quizzes almost every class and lots of essays to write. She is a strong grader and assignments are always being switched around.

Would not recommend taking Farmer. She makes this course very boring, mostly lecture, lots of reading & quizzes almost every class. Lots of essays and topics she chooses for the essays are ridiculous & difficult to understand. This course was supposed to be critical thinking/writing literature & I felt like it was just about analyzing poems.

Prof. Farmer's English 002 course was by far the most challenging English course I've ever taken. I took an AP course in high school and looking back it doesn't even compare to the level of rigor that was present here. really makes you dig deep and discover profound meaning in various readings. It's the effort you put in that will be rewarding.

Prof Farmer does a great job of teaching english. Id consider myself pretty good at english but this class was tough for me. She tends to be pretty biased when it comes to opinions on essay topics, and she likes a lot more detail than Im used to. Id suggest this class if you need to learn the material, but if you just want to pass don't take her.

On of the best at the school. She has the mindset to be one of the best teachers as she is interactive with the class and really wants the entire class to love English. The class I took had 5 or 6 essays so for those having issues writing be prepared to get some assistance. She grades better then fair, and helps preps for the next course

Professor Farmer: An intelligent lady and very sweet might I add. Very thorough and clear during lectures and passionate about the subjects. Hot as well. Just be sure to show up to class and read the material. I'd recommend this class.

Professor Farmer is a very intelligent woman, which can be intimidating, but she's a very sweet lady and you can expect to learn a lot in her class. She's very passionate about literature and knows her stuff. Spends a lot of time preparing you for assignments & tests and she's a fair grader. I almost didn't take this class, but I'm glad I did.

This professor is an extremely hard grader. She gives you assignments but does not tell you what is expected until the class before it is due. I use to love poetry before taking her class, now I hate it. The class was supposed to be Introduction to Poetry, but it was more like an advanced poetry class.

She's a nice person and all but I don't like her as a teacher. She really is unclear about what she wants until the day before the paper is due. When you ask her clarifying questions she is SUPER vague and avoids answering and instead dances around the question. That's the reason why it's hard to get an A in this class. You don't learn anything.

Worst English teacher ever. She doesn't teach you anything all you do is write papers that other students correct. She will assign a paper and not tell you how to actually write the paper until the day before it is due. WORST TEACHER EVER AVOID her if you want to save your GPA, because of here she ruined my 3.80 GPA. I can not stress enough avoid.
