Professor McCarthy is a great professor, You can really see her passion for the course. However She is one of the toughest teacher in terms of grading I came across. There is lot of reading and writing, no final. Creative thinking and writing is not flexible, it is all very structured. Very harsh grading wise!!!

Phil. East/West, my first philosophy course and much more challenging than I expected. She is an engaging instructor and quite friendly, but her grading is meticulous so you can't expect to take it too easily even in an intro-level.

Erin is a very friendly professor--Ethical Theory is challenging an we had a large class, which made learning difficult at times. She is a meticulous grader but is understanding on an individual basis. Very knowledgable and makes an effort to know her students.

Awesome, no bull crap kind of teacher. She is a difficult grader but extremely helpful. Very enthusiastic about what she teaches. Would recommend her to anyone!

Dr. McCarthy remains one of the most articulate orators I have had as a professor. She also does an outstanding job mediating contrary viewpoints and maintaining a respectful, intellectually welcoming environment considering the subject matter.
