Comment:

Dr. Balajthy is a good professor, he is a little unorganized and gets of topic often, but overall a pretty good choice for this class. You will have 3 lesson plans, 2 tests & a final, and you WILL need the assigned textbooks. Easy grader and&offers extra credit. He is understanding of students and often lets people hand things in late. Good choice!

Dr. Balajthy has an upbeat attitute in class. Hilarious guy but lectures a bit all over the place (although I did learn alot about different literacy programs in schools).Grades on 2 lesson plans, 2 exams. brief homeworks, and professional development. Put in the work and you will do really well.

Provides very clear expectations for lesson plans and gives grading rubrics. Exams can be trick, be sure to know all the words given on his study guides for each chapter. Upbeat attitude, very kind. Do a lot of work in content area groups. Present a group 3 day lesson plan at the end of class in addition to 3 exams.

Comment:

Dr. Balajthy is a hilarious, kind, but really unorganized professor. Lectures are all over the place, but he makes up for it with his grading. You will actually learn beneficial things from him but they don't really pertain to the course specifically. He gives extra credit on the tests and if you ask him a question during a test, he is very helpful

One of the funniest professors I have had at Geneseo. His test are hard but he curves them. You will get many great stories from taking his class. It is clear he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. Is vague with instruction but still a kind person.

Very tough tests. Don't just use the study guide for midterm and final-- study from your notes and homework the most because very few questions come off the official study guide. STUDY A LOT! The case study wasn't bad because he broke it into 3 steps and gave feedback each time. Just follow his feedback on that, and you'll be fine.

worst professor i've ever had.. homework assignments are lengthy and do nothing. lectures for 2.5 hours and his while class is falling asleep. I asked to re-schedule my final to visit my sick grandparents and he said no! AWFUL!

Dr. Balajthy was one of the best professors I've had so far. He does assign a lot of homework but it's not too difficult and you learn from it. If you take the hw assignments seriously, studying for the midterm and final is a breeze! He also curves the tests so thats a plus! His stories can get very interesting too so he's not boring at all!

His instructions for the lesson plans were wonderful, and he was very clear on what to correct for the next one. He tried to be funny for 8:30 am. he realized that some of his jokes were out of date. That was funny

Dr. Balajthy was my professor for Literacy 10 years ago! because of him, I was prepared to teach 5th grade effectively using a balanced approach. I am now a Literacy Coach at my school beause of the strong skills I developed at GSU and honed later on in my Masters work.

Very boring class. Stops talking in the middle of sentances and cant really finish any of his thoughts. The first test was 30 multiple choice questions taken from 5 chapters of reading. I had NO clue what to study.

He reminds me of Mr. Rodgers. I learned a few things, and the tests were pretty easy to study for, then he gives a curve. His project isn't bad if you follow his rubric you get a good grade. Not the best or worst class I ever had.

Comment:

Balajthy is a great teacher. People only complain about him because they are lazy. His class is not at all hard and doesn't require a whole lot of work. His tests are really easy and he tries to keep things interesting. He's the only one that teaches 214, but there's no need to be worried.
