I created an account to share my opinion on Mr. Etter. In the course of my business calculus class he has made some very prejudice remarks, caused half the class to drop, and insulted his student's intelligence several times. I'm not sure how insulting your students will inspire them to learn? OH, and he will tell the same jokes OVER and OVER.

Wasn't very helpful at all and he made the test's 10 times harder than what he actually taught in class. He used power points and didn't write out the problem step by step.

At the beginning I did not mind him. That is until the class dropped from about 20 people to 4 and when looking for an answer he just stared at me. Then if the answer happened to be wrong no response.... no "thats not right" just a blank stare! SO incredibly aggravating!

He uses the examples straight from the book and is clear about why things are only about half of the time. His tests are long and difficult. I don't think I finished a single one all semester and I consider myself to be a quick test taker. Advice: do the homework. It lowers the percentage impact of the final

Mr. Etter is a wonderful teacher. He wants his students to do well, but unfortunately most just don't care. He teaches well, and will take the time to help you if he has any to spare (he's a very busy man!). I didn't do well in class due to the lack of time and effort I put into it but I'm okay with that. Put in the effort and you'll do fine!

The material for this course was extremely hard. I couldn't even get past chapter 1 without stumbling. I heard from other students that the class gets easier after chapter 2, but I find it hard to believe. Don't worry if you fail the chapter 2 test you're not alone. With all that being said the teacher is very understanding if you talk to him.

Mr. Etter is a great math teacher. He's a fun, easy going professor. He explains the concepts very well, and doesn't just throw an endless string of examples out. He explains a lot of the theory behind the problems, which I like. Not everyone will like this style. Gives practice tests that are identical to the tests. Lots of corny math jokes.

Ernie Etter is a great teacher! The people who do not like him either failed his class or were lazy with homework, or didnt study. I usually got help every day, and I really payed attention in class. He teaches good! Yes his jokes are lame, but oh well. Getting a 100% in his class is VERY easy, you just have to be smart and put time into homework!

He is not helpful at all. My MAT 221 class started with about 25 students and by the last week there was only about 6 left in the class! He does not go out of his way to help you and he does not explain himdelf very well. He simnply uses the powerpoint slides and that is all he uses except for the RARE occasion he actually writes on the board.

He knows his material and is able to convey it. He is a very good mathematician, not just a good teacher. Very fair. Other instructors of M-121 do *not* give practice tests. He is helpful, and will stay after class to explain concepts you may not have fully understood.

He did really well teaching calc3 for the first time in 12yrs. Really good natured, helpful, and accomodating. Sometimes he'll do a little too much mental math, leaving us wondering how he got from one step to the next. Overall I learned the material very well and earned a much better grade than if taught by some other instructors.

Get over the geek-factor, and you'll learn a thing or two from this teacher who really loves math! He's a nice guy, who doesn't get enough respect from his students. Ask him and he'll help you in a heartbeat. (Heck he gave us his home phone!)

He made the class as easy as possible by giving out practice tests that were very close to the actual tests. If a student studied and understood this material then there was no reason to do poorly.
