Coolest teacher I've ever had. Del Rio was always entertaining and is always there for you. He cares a ton about his students and is an amazing source for recommendations or getting a job in the future. He is the main reason why I am interested in media studies now, and I always felt like I could go ask for help or even talk about life with him.

The most inspiration professor I've ever had. Yeah, he teaches the material in an interesting way, but more importantly he teaches you how to be a cooler person. Tests are sort of hard. Never read a page out of the textbook. Cares about his students. I feel like his grading is a little subjective so be as cool to him as he is to you.

This is the best professor i've had at USD. He is so enthusiastic and is down right hilarious! Yes, there is a lot of reading and a pop quiz every week, but he makes you want to learn. All you have to do is put in an honest effort and you can easily get an A. For those who want to learn a lot about media, TAKE HIM!

Best Professor! Intelligent and knows how to make you laugh. Very tough class though, must read all assigned readings as he has pop quizzes every so often. 2 Exams and a paper, must know reading details about the class to get good grades. Class is so worth it, his teaching style takes over the whole classroom and makes you want to learn.

This teacher took over for Stern when she had her baby and I was really dissappointed. I felt that the whole time he was just trying to force his interests and opinions on you without giving the other side of the story. I thought that at times he was trying to be cool and impressive but really is a normal guy. I heard that he can be a tough grader.

amazing teacher!! he has so much passion for media culture. he knows what he's teaching, wants students to apply and really get what they're taught not so much memorize and recite back... so helpful in office hours and enjoys helping out students with anything. he always makes a point to say hi and talk when he sees his students. he's funny too!

Whether or not you are a communications major,profesor Del Rio is one of my top recommendations to students who attend USD. I took his class as a freshman and was surprised by all that I learned. He is passionate about the subject matter and is skilled at connecting with his students- But remember just because he is cool, its not an easy A.

Del Rio is the best Comm prof. I've had. He's very personable and respects his students a lot. The lectures really only consist of students talking about what they think is interesting in current pop music. Only down side is that he doesn't really go over the material that he assigns for reading but that's all the tests are on. Pretty mellow class.

Del Rio is AWESOME! Fun lectures, he's really enthusiastic about what he talks about, and he's one of those teachers who really wants you to do good, and he's really funny. BUT his lectures are always engaging (even when I found the material wasn't), and he's always available to talk to you & will make an effort to meet when you can if you can't go to his office hours. This is my third class since freshman year w/ del Rio and with age he just gets HOTTER! But now seriously...he's an awesome, but very HARD teacher. Do the readings, participate in class and you'll do ok. Study your ass off and you'll get an A. He's very knowledgeable and smart. Sometimes his lectures are a bit scattered.
