I never recommend taking a class with him. His handwriting is so bad and he is really bad at giving lectures.

Great teacher. Gives tons of extra credit on labs and the extra credit leads right into what you would do on the next assignment, always do the EC. Love the accent. Has a lot of enthusiasm. Fun teacher and easy to talk to. If you can make it through the labs the test will be easy.

Esteban should really stop rating himself, especially when he has been out of the country for the last 6 months to teach class.

Comment:
Rodriguez's microelectronics classes are hands down the most difficult EE undergrad class you will take. In all honesty, no matter how much time you commit to studying and doing homework, the exams are still insanely difficult. Also, be prepared to learn Spice all on your own, as he encourages students to "investigate" on their own.

about 80% of us will continue to program boards using c/c++ and he insists that we stick by assembly. now I realize that I have wasted 3 months of my time and only learned to program leds and switches. this guy is a joke so try to take this class from claudio if you can.

No one knows really why he gives hw and labs when they don't help with the tests. The instructor just likes to play it hard and expect you to do well. I guess he can't make it like koh or walsh because he enjoys grading on a curve. poor quality. knowing is one thing and being able to transfer that knowledge is another. he lacks the latter quality.

Why does this guy teach a junior level class? His notes and text are the same. Literally the same exact thing and you are scared to ask a question; if you're lost, forget it just read the text. His attitude is not appreciated by many students and his lectures are the worst. I'm no slacker but his class sucks.Claudio or Dr Koh, please teach 331!

These comments are much too harsh! Esteban wants us to actually LEARN the material and not just get a good grade and move on without knowing what we're doing. Although this means more work, it's to your advantage in later engineering classes! Very clear lectures and helpful!

Knows his stuff but takes no breaks. Straight 2+ hours of instruction. The generally accepted rule is 50 minutes of instruction, 10 minute break. Seriously needs to refine his technique.

Esteban to his credit tries to teach you as much as he possible can. The draw back to this style, is that the pace can sometimes seem to fast, and the work load heavy. Esteban is easy to work with though, so if you have any problems, go to him...he's a good guy and he knows his material.

Expects you to know everything on intro course. Terrible at explaining the basics. Heard he is a good upper level class teacher, though.

This class is like playing with Legos. Except that the blocks are 7400 series chips. It would be better if this class was more than once a week, as there is so much more that we could cover. (Though the basics are really all you need TAUGHT to you. The rest is instinctive.)

Comment:
The class is a very hard class for those who know nothing about hardware, and there was no preparatory class available. As a result, it was this professors responsibility to make things as clear as possible, which did not even come close to happening. Felt like I waisted a lot of time and money on this course.
