Lacks a professional attitude appropriate to high level college teaching. He takes too many students and does not manage his lessons in a timely fashion (which are only 50 min. to begin with). He does not push his students enough. He does not address fundamental issues well (rhythm, intonation, legato) so you'll need to learn all this by yourself.

As a coach, Ethan is useless. Everything was "very, very good" or "really very good." Come on, give me something I can use! I didn't learn a damned thing. And he likes to sit around and talk about himself. And watch out, because beneath the friendly facade, he is petty and manipulative and prone to power trips.

Fortunately my passion for music is far stronger than Ethan's incompetence. Musically he is the least effective person I have ever had the misfortune to work with. He would be unable to maintain a professional career outside a school envirionment because he would be forced to rely on his weak abilities and not on his tenure. Horrible "educator".

I once saw him slop his way through a concerto with the wind ensemble. Sitting down and reading the music off the stand... There was a day that he couldn't make rehearsal and his student rocked it. The next day was very telling when he showed up.
