He was so boring I almost always fell asleep in class. he is such a nice guy but does not know how to get our attention and the subject was so dry. not to mention there was loads of reading involved. i would not recommend this class if you don't like to read.

Class is super boring and you don't learn much at all. Everyone stares off into space. It's an easy credit. For the quizzes all you have to do is look up the answers on Google. Don't even have to buy the books, I wasted my money. As long as you write the papers it should be an easy A.

Has experience in the material that he teaches. Has interesting stories of his adventures in the field, and always goes off on a philosophical tangent to explain a point. Classes are informal and open, and yet can be boring if youre not willing and able to talk much about the material. Expect lots of reading and some writing, but nothing too deep.

This class is interesting, but a lot of work. The tests cover real specific questions to the books you read, so if you don't read them, don't expect to get high grades on tests. The papers/projects are easy though and he grades pretty leniently on them. I'd recommend this class if you don't have a heavy load of other hard classes

Don't bother buying half of the books he gives you to read! Look them up online and just know the material briefly to do your short papers. HIS CLASS IS SO BORING! Everyone's stares off into space until we take notes or watch a movie. The class is easy, but very non-efficient.

interesting class, but soooo much work! its one of those classes where the prof thinks his class is the only one you are taking. if you dont attend class and you are called on you lose 10 points which can really bite you in the ass later. i would not recommend taking it.

Talk about your ultimate tree hugger. I'm liberal but this guy takes the bait. You have to write these stupid one page papers that are graded basically on an all or nothing scale. The tests are very long over a 100 quetions and the amount of reading wil blow you away. There is way too much work for a 100 level class. I suggest not taking his class.

Gene Ammarrell is a very entusuiastic and almost eccentric middle-age man. He is passionate about anthropology, and makes even the not-so-interesting topics interesting.

Very knowlegeable in subject area but as the year progressed had a shorter and shorter temper when it came to talking in class, questions, excuses, etc. A little intimidating to speak to outside of class, but overall a very nice guy.

Great guy and super laid back. I took two classes with him, in one he gave us the answers for the test and the other class ANTH3something there were no tests. He grades really lenient and I got an A in both classes with little work. There is a one page paper due every class, but you can pretty much type anything as long as it takes up one page

I learned a lot of this class, but I did so much more work for anthro. than i did any other class. The tests were rather hard. There were a lot a questions and a ton of stuff to study for the tests. he's a nice guy who is very into anthropology, but there is just to much work for it being a 101 class. But keep up with the work. It will get easier.

At first it seemed like a lot of reading, but if you read the chapter summaries in the book, that's enough to write your daily papers. Multiple choice test, he gives a study guide for. Final group presentation. Easy A if you keep up.

I really liked this professor, once you get a hang of the daily one page papers, its easy. I learned a lot and about interesting topics. Other anth profs are said to be very BORING. This class wasn't, don't get discouraged at first by the number of papers you write, its opinionated.
