One of the nicest professors. He treats each student fairly. Practice quizzes are identical to the actual ones. Exams are not difficult.

Very nice guy. Classes can be boring but I really think he cares about his students. He memorizes every students name in the first week and he is there to help you. Not a bad choice for a Philosophy! Make sure you do the practices quizzes because they are the same as the quizzes and tests.

It is one of the hardest summer courses I have ever taken. He basically just compresses his usual class into four weeks with three 3 page essays, 3 exams half--multiple choice and half essay, and then two discussion posts a week. Its a lot considering he expects us to go into as much detail with all the topics as we would if it was a semester class

I took this class as a winter course. Online tests and essays were not bad. Discussion posts too. Along with readings, he supplies long useful outlines of notes on the readings and notes on the topics discussed. Loved this online course. Made me pursue a PHL minor. The class was so interesting, so it was easy to do well! Would take again for fun.

monotone lectures, puts down wrong answers, course is taught in way that does not induce a class discussion. reading assignment for every class but they are explained well enough that reading isnt necessary. 4-5 quizzes, 3 tests, final is on material of last section, no"midterm" but there is a test during midterm week.

Yeah I do not know why people think he is easy. I was told he was going to be easy and that was why I took him. Yeah he isnt. He is a really hard grader on essays and his exams. His lecture is sooooo boring and almost everyone does not listen. If you are interested in Philosophy then he is a good take but if not I would not reccomend

So. Boring. He has made his tests A LOT harder because he heard that he is known as being easier. Don't take. Very ambiguous and doesn't know how to teach.

He is the cutest old man I have ever seen in my life. This class is ridiculously easy. Not too boring. Pay attention though. Print off the slides and takes notes on what he says. Don't bother reading, he'll tell you what you need to know.If you want an easy A, take Selk.

TAKE HIM! You don't have to do the readings, he posts his notes online, and he gives COMPLETE study guides of everything you need for tests and quizzes. Only a few papers but as long as you cover the prompt you're good. Only reason I went to class is cause he takes participation points for absences.

Dr. Selk is a great professor! He will do anything to help you do your best in his class. He even sat with me and discussed essay questions that were going to be on an exam! He will extend his office hrs if you need extra help! All of his powerpts are online and he hands out study guides for every exam, even the final, which is not cummulative!

Dr. Selk is the nicest professor! The class isn't super difficult - you don't really have to read, though I would recommend it. If you pay attention in class and take good notes, you should be fine. Tests weren't bad at all, but definitely study. I had never taken a philosophy course before, but he dumbed it down enough that I understood it well.

Posts powerpoints on blueline. Just download and listen/take notes during class. He's boring, but it's a relatively easy class. He has a harder grading scale though with a 93=A instead of a 90

Easy A if you study and pay attention. No need to buy books, i never used mine. He goes over what you read in detail. To get an A: go to class, TAKE NOTES on what he says that's not in the slides, & know the material. Tests are over exactly what is in the slides and what he talks about -all multiple choice. there are a few short papers

Even though his lectures are dry he repeats everything! There's no need to read out of class assignments because he will cover them in detail in class. For essay's & exams, re-state what he says in class & you are guaranteed an A. For essays: GO TO OFFICE HOURS! He will straight up tell you what to write about, I did and it was EXTREMELY helpful

The class material is really easy to learn and easy to study. His notes he has online are AWESOME. His lecture can be dry sometimes but the reading isn't required if you go to class and take notes. Overall just show up to class, pay attention and you could get an A. 4 quizzes, 2 papers, 4 tests and attendance is what he grades on.
