Comment:

His lectures are him writing one word or a phrase on the board and then explaining it out loud or with diagrams, but you can't understand him because he talks fast and with a heavy accent. Seems like a generally good guy who will throw in a joke here and there but if 2 people are absent from class he'll make everyone pay with a pop quiz. Avoid.

Awful class. Stay away if you are looking for a Gen-ed. There is no reason to take this class. Many took it for a good grade and ended up giving difficult tests with no context and was unclear in class about the notes. no powerpoints given, just him writing random words on a board that may or may not appear. Final was 120 questions from entire year

Comment:

Though the grading criteria was pretty clear, his class was a lot more work than it looked like. Lots of reading and there are class quizzes every week - some open book, others were based on memorizing maps. Tests were very in depth and difficult if you didn't do the reading. He's a fun lecturer, and you definitely should take notes.

Comment:

Professor has very high expectations, does not use blackboard, is very forgetful and does not prepare lectures. His lectures consist of rants, and he jots notes down on the board with very sloppy handwriting. His communication skills are awful, so he does a good job at confusing you most of the time. Exams are very difficult, but he curves.

Odd man. Does not take attendance, but is passive aggressive about students that don't attend (Gives no sympathy if you don't - almost moved a test date without emailing blackboard). Mildly difficult to understand accent, poor handwriting, and does nothing but talk on the board, so lecture isn't all that useful. Tests 90% from textbook and videos.

My friend and I took GEOG103 for a gen-ed requirement and both got C's Impossible to do well in this class. Also you can't understand a single thing he says in lecture with his accent and the tests are ridiculous. 1000% would never recommend this class to anyone

Take any class with Eugene! Warning: his classes are challenging, make you think, and make you work. But you will learn a LOT by the end of the semester. He can be harsh, but he means it constructively. If you see past all of that, you will also find him to be absolutely hilarious. "Fantastic!" :)

This was a horrible class, his notes are barely readable and even if you were capable of taking them, it doesn't matter because most of the information won't pertain to any of the exams. The TAs were lazy and I never got my things graded on time, or back before exams. It was suppose to just be an easy gen-ed, but ended up being way more. Horrid.

He is one of the worst teachers I've had. He scribbles on the board and you can never tell what he is writing.He always messes up the answer key to the quizzes so you don't know what is right and wrong. VERY DISORGANIZED!! Don't take this class...unless you want to torture yourself

Took this course to fulfill the P GenEd credit. Big mistake on my part. As a third year Chemistry BS student, this might be the most difficult class I have taken. The quizzes are graded poorly, and are jammed into labs along with other assignments. If you are holding out on a class to Pass/Fail, make it this one.

He is so funny and very passionate about his subject, however his tests are very difficult. This is NOT an easy class. The TAs grade a lot of the quizzes wrong, but each quiz is only 1% of your final grade. Stil kinda sucks though :/ Nonetheless, his lectures are very interesting and informative. Do not take this class if you want an Easy A.

Wonderful teacher, his class is so interesting. It is a lot of reading and videos to watch.but it is worth it. He is helpful at office hours. If you do the reading you will excel in his tests. His tests are straight forward ONLY if u put in the effort. Definitely takes his class..Crazy But funny guy.. His handwriting will make u squint. overall. FI

Best class I think I ever took in school. I took it in 09 but I absolutely loved retail!!!!!!!!! It was very very very difficult but I don't think there was a more engaging interesting class. He cares about his students. Take this.

Comment:

Professor Tettey-Fio's accent may be hard to understand at times, but his humor will grow on you. He cares enough about his students and allows them to discuss points back on quizzes and tests. Although it is absurd that you need a 96 for an A, I definitely learned a lot from his lectures.
