Professor Woods is extremely nice and helpful. Truly great professor at Vassar and always willing to help you if you need, and provides great feedback. There were a lot of papers, but at this level you should expect to start having to write a lot more. Participation is encouraged and its not embarrassing to make a mistake. Would take again!

This class didn't feel that difficult, it was just a lot of time to write essays in spanish then edit them. I didn't see my final paper grade or final, but ended up with a lower grade than I thought I would get based on the rest of my work. But overall not very difficult, and professor Woods is really nice and she'll help you if you need it.

She is honestly such a sweet woman, but sometimes asking for individual help can seem like a chore. Assignment can be sometimes be unclear, and asking for an explanation doesn't help much. She is a very generous grader and understanding when it comes to needing extensions. Ask the language fellow to edit your papers and you'll get an A.

This class was a waste of my time. She constantly went over the Spanish Civil War, we spent the half the semester on one book, the writing assignments did not prepare me for 216. I didn't see my final project grade, but based on everything else, she gave me an unfairly low grade. Unless you are obsessed with the Spanish Civil War: STAY AWAY!

has an excellent theoretical and historical grasp of the material but doesn't spoon-feed you. You have to work and think for yourself.

Comment:
Her homework assignments are unclear and often boring. The movies she assigns to watch are terrible. Her projects are pretty easy, but very time consuming, annoying, and didnt help with my spanish at all. My spanish has not gotten better by taking this class. Woods has been nice to me and the class was easy, but i have been very disappointed by it.

Prof Woods was such a sweetheart! she is super helpful and nice, and I did not find her intimidating, I enjoyed class discussions. If you do your work then you will excel. She doesn't believe in giving one grade and thats final, So if you write a paper and get an f you can rewrite it and get an A. it is awesome!!!! work hard and you'll get an A :)

My Spanish improved significantly, and I learned a lot about topics I usually wouldn't give much thought to. The classroom atmosphere is very intimidating, but this is the nature of all language classes where students (like me) are uncomfortable with speaking. She is clear in her speech and expectations. She's fun and helpful in and out of class.

This is a brilliant professor who knows Spanish and Caribbean culture inside out. She wants you to investigate questions that she herself wants to explore, so you explore them with her, it's like a joint research effort. Very exciting stuff. Best class I have in three years at Vassar. I wish more professors had her knowledge and brilliance.

Eva is a very effective professor in that she knows her Spanish language and history very well; however, her style is a little daunting for a freshman class.

i went into the class thinking of doing a double major with hispanic studies as one of them. however, i quickly changed my mind. i dont know what it is about her, but the class just wasnt enjoyable. also, she is a media studies professor too. and i think sometimes she forgets that the people in her hisp206 class are NOT in media studies.

i went in to this class enthusiastically, thinking i might minor in spanish but this class quickly changed my mind. the style in which woods teaches is just dull, discussion is unnecessarily intimidating, and she's very unapproachable outside of the classroom. I feel my spanish has actually worsened from this class, if that's even possible.

Woods has high expectations for your Spanish skills. She speaks Spain-ish which is annoying if you're used to Latin American Spanish. Sometimes her personality and interests interfere with the general study of the language. i.e. - she likes theatre and I don't, therefore parts are boring
