Dr. Galarce's class are the easiest Spanish 1 and 2 classes you can take compared to the other professors. You do activities out of the textbook everyday and then have short quizzes. However if Spanish is your major or minor I do not suggest her because you will not learn as much. Overall, a good and fun professor.

Took many classes with Galarce. She's funny and sincere, cares about students' lives and successes. Grades generously as long as you try. Someone criticized use of films w/ English subtitles and readings in English. That isn?t a bad thing, because those classes are culture and literature classes. The grammar and composition classes are in Spanish.

Get on her good side and your golden. If she likes you, you can't do much wrong. Also, she's really open to how the students want the class to be, so if everyone makes a suggestion, she'll listen. She's hysterical - you might not learn as much spanish as you would like since a soap opera type thing teaches you, but you'll laugh every class.

Comment:

She helps me learn the language a lot. When I did not understand something that we weren't even going over in class, she stopped to explain it to me. The next day in class she brought in a worksheet for me to keep in case I needed it later. Great teacher!

Good teacher. Kinda gets grumpy with the class though. We're just learning, like she had to do when she first started speaking the language. Knows what she's talking about, but sometimes doesn't let us know what she's talking about.
